ere proud to bring you our newest creation from HOTEL DESIGN: The Gallery. This
exciting roundup of the best products from the past yearas well as those youll
be talking about in 2010has been a lot of fun to put together for our entire
editorial team.
In November, we asked readers to weigh in on what their favorite products were from
those shown in the pages of HOTEL DESIGN throughout 2009. The winning selections are
noted as Readers Picks. We also invited our advertising partners to submit the products
that they are most excited about, and weve labeled those as Partner Products. Lastly,
weve added products that our editorial staff found particularly compelling, and we have
listed those as Editors Picks.
Any way you slice it, this issue is full of ideas and inspiration that you can use throughout the New Year.

Winter Wonderland
kay, I havent exactly been walking in a winter
wonderland, but I have been walking the aisles
of more tradeshows. As we all know, there is a
bountiful number of tradeshows in our hotel
industry, especially this time of year.
October and November didnt let me down. More friendly faces and incredible new products were displayed at the
NEWH regional event in Los Angeles as well as the International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show in New York City.
Looking for flooring, lighting or fabrics for your property
or your clients property? These events are a must.
As I have stressed in previous issues, in order to really connect in this industry, face-to-face networking is absolutely
critical. And, as I have pointed out over the last 11 months,
Questex Media offers ample opportunities for this through
our own events as well as through our sister events.
If you havent yet mapped out and budgeted for 2010,
heres a guide to the tradeshow and conference schedule:
IHIF Berlin - March 8-10
NYU (for other roundtables) - June 6-8
IHIF Asia Pacific - June 14-17
HD Boutique Roundtable - September 15
Russia & CIS Hotel Investment Forum - October dates TBD

MANAGING PRINCIPAL, VOA ASSOCIATES
MY FRIENDS DESCRIBE ME as intelligent, interesting and funny, I hope. To me, the most important
character traits are honesty, creativity and a passion for doing what you love to the best of your abilities. I try to
live my life with an everyday awareness of how ones actions have an impact on others and the world around
them, which translates to being true to yourself, considerate of others and aware of your surroundings.
IM CURRENTLY READING Heat by Bill Buford ; the current issue of The New Yorker magazine;
boating and fishing magazines.
MY ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN IS INFLUENCED BY J.B. Jackson. He lectured at Berkeley when I was a student there. Jackson was very
influential in broadening the discussion about vernacular landscape, which is
about how landscape and architecture develop in response to the climate,
land conditions or culture of a region.
