Quiz Suhrissions - Erzyne Labquiz - BIOLOGY2803: CELL BIOLOGY FALL2013- McMaster Uniwrsity

A competetive inhibitor bind to the active site where the substrate is supposed to bind. As such, it becomes
competition between whether the substrate or the cometetive inhibitor will bind to the active site. The
competetive inhibitor slowed the reaction down, it took more time to get 100o/o product, and 07o substrate.

The correct answer is not displayed for Long Answer type questions.

Explain what is meant by a non-competitive inhibitor and why it gave the result that it did?
A non-competetive inhibitor is a molecule that binds to the enzyme somewhere other than the active site,
which causes a slight conformational change, making the active site less efficient for binding to the substrate.
When a little bit of the non competetive enzyme was added, the reaction took longer to proceed, when a lot
(90 units) were added, the reaction did not proceed,

The correct answer is not displayed for Long Answer type questions.
