bus devices (to use as input data for auxiliary functions) and writing

- summer and winter compensation;
- comparison operations;
- calculation operations (addition, difference, multiplication, division);
- constants and variables selection operations;
- timer programs;
- optimization of switch on and off phases with self learning function.

Description
KM20X network controller is an instrument for use in a GIACOKLIMA
bus system destined to the control of Giacobini systems for underfloor
systems or ceiling radiant systems associated with K481 and K483
ambient thermostats, KPM20 unit I/O, KD200 display unit and with
KSMS module.

Signalling elements
On the front of the case of the instrument a red LED signals the
operating state of KM20x Controller.

Versions and codes

The Controller is available in four versions that differ between them
for the available interfaces. To KM202 and KM203 version can be
connected the KD200 Display Unit GIACOKLIMA through a RS485
port. KSMS module for text messages sending and receiving can be
used only associated with KM203 network controller.

Main and auxiliary functions

KM20x Controller has 2 main functions:
- runs and coordinates the operation of all GIACOKLIMA bus devices
connected to the system and widens their functions with respect to
the stand-alone operation;
- is an interface for local monitoring (to implement through KD200
Display Unit or PC) and for remote control.

Analogical alarms
Up to 32 analogical alarms can be configured for each connected
GIACOKLIMA bus device. For each alarm a set of parameters should
be set as:
- alarm type (differentiating between maximum and minimum);
- priority level (low, medium or high);
- hysteresis band.

Digital alarms
Up to 32 digital alarms can be configured for each connected
GIACOKLIMA bus device For each alarm a set of parameters should
be set as:
- priority level (low, medium or high);
- significant transition (up/down front).

Communication alarms
In addition to analogical and digital alarms, the Controller runs also
communication alarms. If in operating mode, during a cyclic polling,
the Controller does not receive the reply from a GIACOKLIMA bus
device, it assumes that this device no longer works and triggers a
corresponding communication alarm. This kind of alarm does not
require any configuration, it is always taken into consideration and
always has the highest priority.

Remote control

Safety

For the operation as interface for remote control, KM20x Controller

should be connected to the phone network via external (KM200)
or built-in (KM201 and KM202) modem. The main functions of the
Controller are:
- alarms report. The Controller makes a continuous evaluation, for
each GIACOKLIMA bus device connected, of the state of a set of
alarms (up to 1.024 digital and/or 1.024 analogical) with automatic
phone call in case one or more alarms with sufficient priority level are
active (not silenced);
- trend storage. The Controller makes a periodical storage of values of
a programmable set of max 32 analogical values. For digital trends
the storage is enabled by events of a programmable set of digital
values (i.e. ON/OFF switching).

KM20x Controller is equipped with an internal clock that can work

for at least 10 days as of the moment in which the device is switched
off. This clock is used to calculate the actual hour. The hours can be
modified with the configuration tool or the KD200 Display Unit.

Device synchronization
An 8 character password can be programmed through the auxiliary
serial port (AUX). When a phone call to the Controller is enabled, it
does not accept the message until the proper password is typed. The
password should be entered .

Installation
Operating mode
At any given moment, KM20x Controller can be only in one of the two
following operating modes:
- operating mode (default);
- configuration mode.

KM20x Controller is fitted in a plastic material storage unit of the size

compliant with standard DIN 43880 appropriate for installation on
standard profiled guide CEI EN 50022. Otherwise the controller can
be wall mounted thanks to slotted holes for the fastening screws fitted
on the case.
Warning!
KM20x Controller does not have a device on/off switch.
This is why an isolating and control device on the power
circuit of the Controller would be appropriate. Exclusively
qualified staff can install the device.

Operating mode
When a KM20x Controller is powered, by default it is in operating
mode. In this operating mode, Controller KM20x carries out its main
functions:
- periodical reading of alarms configured in each GIACOKLIMA bus
device connected;
- real time evaluation of each alarm and generation of alarm flags;
- confrontation between the state of the alarms and their silencing. In
case an alarm has a sufficiently high priority and was not yet silenced,
the Controller enables a phone call to the GIACOMINI Service Center;
- periodical reading of configured trends and storage in the EEPROM
memory. When close to saturation the Controller can be programmed
to call the GIACOMINI Service Center and transfer on the Web Server
the content of memory;
- generation of a communication alarm if a GIACOKLIMA bus device
does not reply to a request of value of the alarm;
- management of messages coming from the GIACOMINI Service
Center.

Connections
KM20x Controller is equipped with terminals to connect several input
and output devices. A faston connection terminal (2 poles) is dedicated
to the connection of 230 V~ network supply. The BUS terminal (4 poles:
RT+, RT-, com, Vs) is dedicated to bus connection.

Unlike the operating mode, the configuration mode is temporary: if no

configuration modification takes place for 3 minutes, the Controller
returns automatically to the operating mode. Notice that:
- usually the configuration of the Controller is set at the factory or
during system commissioning, without using a modem;
- for the configuration a PC is connected through the standard serial
cable (9 pin) to the auxiliary serial port RS-232 (AUX) of the Controller
and the configuration tool is started;
- in case of use of KM202 version the device can be configured
connecting a PC to RS485 port of the KD200 Display Unit: for the
connection a RS232/RS485 converter is necessary;
- anyway it is still possible, during ordinary system operation, to
reconfigure (partially or completely) the Controller in the same way
through the phone line;

The RS-485 connector (only for KM202 and KM203 version) is

device configuration. In the latter case for the connection it is necessary
to have a RS232/RS485 converter.
