Executive summary:

The DITF (Dhaka International Trade Fair) is the most emphatic fair in our Dhaka city, for
which, city dwellers are awaiting for the whole year. This event would project quality
exportable of Bangladesh to the visitors from home and abroad. The local producer in the
remote areas of rural Bangladesh who does not have financial strength to participate in
International trade fair will have the opportunity to display their products to the buyer from
abroad at this fair and so are foreign products. It creates an immense opportunity for both
domestic and foreign buyers. It earns a lot of revenue for our country.

The broad objective of this report is to find and show how international trade fair impact on
economic, culture and political.

2) Specific objectives:
a) To make comprehensive analysis of different types of communication practice.

We have used both primary (Official website ) and secondary data (some articles ) for
preparing the report.

Limitations

1)

In many cases up to date information is not published in the website.

To get and to acquire information is very difficult cause. So we collect our

information through their official website and other sources.

The whole of Dhaka city waits eagerly for this month-long Dhaka international trade fair
(DITF) in the beginning of each year. Every year the residents expects to be part of
something exciting and magnetic and even if every year is not a let-down, but this 18th
instalment could not surprise the audiences as well.

Sprawling over an almost 12.5 lakh square feet venue with a total of 505 stalls from both
home and abroad participating, the entrepreneurs are more or less failing to address the
concept of variety and appeal, alleges the viewers thronging this fair.

A rising trend

In 1995, a total of 68,665 people visited the fair. The number favourably increased to 25
lacks in the year 2003. The number of visitors increased further in 2004 despite a number of
hartals by the opposition. A fire broke out in the fair premises, which causes concern among
the participants. It gutted five stalls in the fair

Scope and Opportunity-Dhaka International Trade Fair:

Local producer, who are unable to participate the international trade fair around the
world, got the opportunity to participate in DITF (Dhaka International Trade Fair) for
the purpose of attracting the potential buyers around the world.
Overseas participants got the opportunity also, helps the local buyers to select their
desired product among the variety of choices.

Our companies, as well as local producers, get acquainted with the international
standard.
Improvement in quality of goods and securing position in the international market,
probably the best possible outcome from DITF.
In one sentence , DITF ,the month long fair, was a global village. The foreigners as
well as the locals can understand, recognize and realize the real taste of different
cultures.

Impact on different environments

Impact On Economic Environment:

Local goods, as well as the foreign ones are displayed in DITF.Our customers can judge,
compare the uses and effectiveness of these products on the basis of their rationalized power
of comparison. Its a such kind of gathering, where people can compare the cost of benefit of
these products.

On the other hand, producers of these products can also identify their lacking as the impact of
their lacking fell directly on their sales, ultimately on the their profit margin, so decisions to
be made to correct the deficit of the profit margin.
47 companies representing 12 countries are participating in the DITF. The countries are
Pakistan, India, China, Iran, South Korea, Thailand, the USA, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia,
the UAE.

We are benefitted by this fair, how?

Manufacturer receives export order worth of taka 157 crore.

 The organizers forecasted export orders to rise around 5 percent this year from the
previous year's Tk 43.18 crore, but it increased 263 percent.

The EPB earned Tk 7.19 crore as profit and Tk 2.38 crore from entrance lease from
the DITF-2010.

Expecting 25 percent rise in spot orders to Taka 50 crore which is 25 per cent more
than the last years from Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2013), countrys
flagship trade show.

Some Messages:
Bangladesh received spot export orders at the fair worth Tk 1.57 billion this year
which was Tk 430 million last year.

-The international trade fair plays a significant role in increasing the nations trade
and export volume. Local entrepreneurs will have to make diverse products and
explore new markets, he said.

Our Personal experience:

We have seen a number of foreigners,probably they were Europeans,were visiting our local
electronics goods producer like Walton and others.We have noticed that their main interest
was on locally-made new model refrigerators, mobile, TV and mobile set with high-tech
smart phone in the show.If we can achieve their satisfaction by delivering superior product
and keeping the cost low in return,we think it will expand the exporting sectors of our
country that we are not exporting right now but we will.

Impact on Culture:
Its an opportunity to be acquainted with men, manner, fashion and culture of different
countries without undertaking the trouble of visiting the participating countries.
Creating a business friendly environment would help us to enhance our business and
culture throughout the world.
Friendly exchange of social and cultural relationship between our country and guest
countries help our country to know about the culture of other country.

 Boosting bilateral and multilateral cooperation is another opportunity created by the

international trade fair.
The rural local producer of Bangladesh have a chance to participate in International
trade fair will have the opportunity to display their products to the buyer from abroad
at this fair.
Domestic market of our country is expanded through this fair.
The participants will be able to identify business contacts with prospect of entering
into subsequent business negotiations.

Political Impact:
Competition is increased through showcasing innovated and colourful products which
helps to attract both foreign and domestic consumers.
Attaining competitiveness to face the tough race in global market and establish a
strong base of Bangladeshi products is the scope created by DITF.
DITF helps to consolidate Bangladeshs position in regional and international trade
and business through increasing export of high quality products of the country.
It accommodate the contribution to the world trade, export and investment.
DITF come forward with the highest innovative capacity to turn Bangladesh into an
emerging business giant of the world.
Creating business relationship between our country and other country is another
opportunity of the DITF. Such as, in 2011, Azerbaijan interested to make a

relationship with our country as its president welcomes us through taking our
manpower to there.

Shortcomings

Every things has some negative side with its positive sides.So, in this way the DITF has also
some shortcomings which restrict its enhancement.
Security system is not properly worked. Such as, polices are often alleged with illegal
activities
Almost every day things are being stolen, but no attempt is taken
Begger are stay around the fair al the time which disturbs our foreign customers.

Though these shortcomings the DITF has become the most desirable place for our
businessman as it picks more opportunity to make international as well as domestic profit.

Conclusion:

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the commerce ministry jointly organized this mega
event that has been continue till January 31. And although the past events saw huge traffic
congestions in front of all the gates of the fair but surprisingly, this problem was addressed
this year and the management are a lot careful this year while addressing these issues.
However, on the downside, traffic on the other roads of the city became somewhat
unbearably congested due to the fair, from the number of cars and other vehicles travelling to
and from the fair. But this year, the traffic the fair parking area was efficiently controlled. Not

only that, a special stall has been installed inside the fair to facilitate mothers with their
babies and the on-duty police personnel said they are more alert this year to catch the
pickpockets, groups of absconders which created huge turmoil last year.
