This question paper contains two Sections Sec. A (Part I and II) and Sec. B.

Answer all questions in Section A, Part I briefly in not more than fifty words.
Each question carries two marks.

Answer any four questions from Section A, Part II. Each question carries six
marks.

Answer any four questions from Section B. Each question carries fourteen
marks.
Section A Part I

1. Attempt all questions briefly in not more than fifty words.

(i) Describe IEEE Floating point standard in brief.


(ii) What are characteristics of buses.
(iii) Subtract 546 478 using 2s complement
(iv) An 8 bit register contains the binary value 10011100. What is the register
value after an arithmetic shift right? Starting from the initial number
10011100, determine the register value after an arithmetic shift left, and
state whether there is an overflow.
(v) What are the different types of ROM
(vi) Differentiate between MISD and MIMD
(vii) Give 3 features each of RISC and CISC architectures
(viii) Define hit ratio for a cache memory.
(ix) Define Neural Networks.
(x) Describe DMA in brief.
