Description:

Application of thermodynamics cycles in design, analysis, and modeling of internal

combustion engines including spark ignition and compression-ignition cycles; thermo
chemistry, fuels, combustion, emissions, and pollution.

Objectives:

To update the knowledge in engine exhaust emission control and alternate fuels

To enable the students to understand the recent developments in IC Engines

Course Outcome:

CO1 : Identify SI and CI engines and its components (a,d)

CO2 : Basic understanding of engine emission and alternative fuels [h,j]
CO3 : Relationships between the design of the internal combustion engine and
environmental and social issues with recent trends [f]

POs:

A] Graduates will demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge in Mathematics, Science, and
Engineering. (CO 1)

D] Graduates will demonstrate the ability to use the techniques, skills, and
engineering tools necessary for practicing in mechanical engineering field. (CO1)

F] Graduates will demonstrate the ability to understand the impact of engineering on

society with the knowledge of contemporary issues. (CO 3)
H] Graduates will demonstrate the ability in practicing with professional and ethical
responsibilities. (CO 2)

J] Graduates will demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate, and solve

mechanical engineering problems. (CO 2)

PEOs:

Graduates will have a successful career in mechanical engineering or related fields

in industry, academia and other organizations throughout the world where an
engineering approach to problem solving and ability to independent learning is
highly valued. (CO1, CO2)
Graduates will act as effective and contributing team members in a
multidisciplinary team work environment with high ethical standards and with an
understanding of the role of engineering in the economy and the environment.
