100 for second year in a row
So far this year, 91 people have been slain in the Bronx, according to NYPD figures. The
last time the borough had two consecutive years with fewer than 100 murders was 1963
and 1964.

There's a lot going down in the

Boogie-Down Bronx starting
with the murder rate.
The borough that until recently
was synonymous with urban
decay is on track to close out
2014 with fewer than 100
murders for the second year
in a row.
The last time the Bronx had two
consecutive years with under
100 murders was 1963 and
1964.
So far this year, 91 people have
been slain in the borough,
according to NYPD figures.
Thats an increase compared
with 2013, when 80 people were
killed.
But if the Bronx can make it to
Thursday without a major burst
of violence, it will break its four-
decade streak.
