Bowie State University Hazing Allegation

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is aware of an allegation made today regarding an alleged incident of hazing on the
campus of Bowie State University. We are unable to comment about any allegations at this time. The situation is
currently under investigation and the chapter has been placed on a cease and desist, suspending all chapter
activities, which is a part of our standard protocol when the national headquarters has received a hazing allegation
regarding any of its chapters.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. does not condone and strictly prohibits hazing in any form whether physical or
mental as a term or condition of membership in the organization.

Any member found violating the fraternity anti-hazing policy will be immediately suspended with
recommendation for expulsion. In addition, the fraternity will cooperate with law enforcement to ensure that any
person violating the law will be brought to justice.

Any member or aspirant found to participate in or knowingly allow any hazing activity does not support the
mission, vision, or aims of Alpha Phi Alpha and does not deserve the privilege of membership.

Alpha has taken several steps in efforts to prevent and eliminate hazing. As an advocate, supporter and participant
in hazing prevention initiatives with organizations like Hazingprevention.org, the Novak Institute and the Greek
Anti-Hazing Hotline, Alpha Phi Alpha is educating members and those who are interested in membership about
this issue that impacts our communities.
