For the spare parts list for the model in question please refer to the Metabo servicing documentation.
Important : Please note the national variants per country and the technical modification status !

Introduction

It is very important, for safety reasons, to ensure that for the duration of all maintenance and repair work
the plug is withdrawn from the power socket.
The disassembly and re-assembly of the power tool are described in the repair instructions, section 5.

Repair instructions

5.1 Disassembly of the motor side


1. Undo the screws (2x) and remove the motor cover.

2. Undo the screws (7x) and remove the first half of the grip.

3. Undo the screw and remove the cable clip, the cable sleeve, and the cable.

4. Disconnect and remove the potentiometer switch.

5. Disconnect and remove the VTC electronics section.

6. Remove the second half of the grip and the felt rings.

7. Remove the brush holder module, the carbon brushes, and the lead.

8. Undo the screws (4x) and remove the motor housing.

9. Undo the screws (2x) and remove the field package and the O-ring.

10. Remove the speed control unit, the armature, the O-ring, and the washers (2x).

5.2 Re-assembly of the motor side


1. Refit the armature, the O-ring, and the washers (2x).

2. Refit the field package with screws; refit the O-ring in the motor housing.

3. Refit the speed control unit on the motor housing


(ensuring that the cable from the speed control unit
is led cleanly through the hole in the motor housing).

4. Refit the motor housing and tighten the screws (4x).

5. Refit the brush holder module, the carbon brushes, and the lead
(ensuring that the brown leads from the brush holder module and the carbon brushes
are kept on the spindle side).

6. Refit the felt rings and one half of the grip.

7. Reconnect the VTC electronics section.

8. Reconnect the potentiometer switch.

9. Reconnect the cable and cable sleeve, refit the cable clip, and tighten the screw.

10. Refit the other half of the grip and tighten the screws (7x)
(ensuring that the leads are laid cleanly
so as to avoid damaging them during re-assembly).

11. Refit the motor cover and tighten the screws (2x)
(ensuring that the leads are laid cleanly
so as to avoid damaging them during re-assembly).

5.3 Disassembly of the gear system side


1. Switch the gear system to the Hammer drilling mode.

2. Undo the screw and remove the wing-knob and the switch cover.

3. Fit the wing-knob and turn clockwise through 180.

4. Undo the screws (4x) and remove the gear housing.

5. Remove the excenter, the O-ring, and the wing-knob.

6. Remove the washers (2x), the needle bearing, and the cup springs (3x)
from the intermediate shaft.

7. Remove the washer from the chuck sleeve,


the cylindrical pins (2x), and the balancing weight.

8. Remove the switching element.

9. Remove the safety clutch system.

10. Remove the shaped gasket, the chuck sleeve, and the washer.

11. Remove the snap ring, the catching sleeve, the O-rings,
the support ring, and the head piece from the chuck sleeve;
(the snap ring must be levered over the hole in the chuck sleeve).

12. Undo the screws (2x)


and remove the bearing ring, the retention pin, and the pressure spring.

13. Remove the intermediate shaft, the washers (2x),


the needle bearing, the striker, and the piston sleeve.

5.4 Re-assembly of the gear system side


1. Refit the washers (2x) and the needle bearing on the intermediate shaft,
and refit the intermediate shaft, the piston sleeve, and the striker
(ensuring that the piston sleeve has the side shown in the picture
facing towards the safety clutch).

2. Refit the pressure spring, the retention pin, and the bearing ring,
and tighten the screws (2x).

3. Refit the head piece, the support ring, the O-rings, and the catching sleeve
in the chuck sleeve.

4. Using repair apparatus 16 394 663 and 16 394 952


press the snap ring into the chuck sleeve.

5. Refit the shaped gasket, the washer, and the chuck sleeve.

6. Refit the safety clutch system.

7. Refit the switching element.

8. Refit the washer on the chuck sleeve;


refit the cylindrical pins and the balancing weight
(ensuring that the hole in the balancing weight is in the bottom left-hand corner).

9. Refit the cup springs (3x), the washers (2x), and the needle bearing
over the intermediate shaft.

10. Refit the excenter, the O-ring, and the wing-knob in the housing
(ensuring that the pin on the excenter is located on the left-hand side).

11. Refit the housing and tighten the screws (4x).

12. Turn the wing-knob counter-clockwise through 180.

13. Remove the wing-knob.

14. Refit the switch cover and the wing-knob and tighten the screws.
(return to Hammer drilling mode).

Insulation check :

Function and safety check


3000 V / 3 seconds
5000 V / 1 second

Check the power tool for all its listed functions.
