Where is Allah?

Refuting The Salafi

Belief

Raziullah Noman
@StudentofAhmad

Where Allah is is a question which is often brought up the Salafis. This rebuttal is in fact in reply
to a salafi who does not know much about Islam but knows only one question, which he
continues to repeat and ask many Muslims to confuse them. He is not the only salafi that does
this; rather it has become a habit of these people to talk about Allah in such a manner. I challenge
them to show me one spot where any Sahabi ever asked the Prophet Muhammad (saw) where is
Allah?
Let us first look at what the Quran says in regards to when someone asks where is Allah. Allah
has stated in chapter 2 verse 186:

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond
to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by
obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided. (2:186)
Now Allah makes it clear of how near he is as well in the Quran, since He knew what would
happen to the Muslims and how even they would become like the Christians and end up
confining God like they have.
Allah states In chapter 50 verse 16:

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to
him than [his] jugular vein (50:16)
Now the salafis and other misguided Muslims will tend to say that no, Allah is referring to his
knowledge. Firstly I ask them, where does it state the word knowledge? Allah is clearly referring to
his omnipotence and omnipresence.

As Muslims we know that Allah is not like us, or that would mean he is not God because we know
there is nothing like him. Quran states in chapter 112 verse 4: Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
How can you then claim that Allah is confined like us? May Allah guide you brothers and sisters to
the truth, Ameen.
There are countless of more verses which prove to us that Allah is omnipresent and is not confined
to a specific spot. Here are some clear verses which show us the omnipresence of Allah which we
should not question as Muslims:

{84}

And it is Allah who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the
Wise, the Knowing. (Chapter 4 verse 84)

They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? Say, "Its knowledge is only with
my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily upon the heavens and the earth.
It will not come upon you except unexpectedly." They ask you as if you are familiar with it. Say, "Its
knowledge is only with Allah , but most of the people do not know." (Chapter 7 verse 187)

And He is Allah , [the only deity] in the heavens and the earth . He knows your secret and
what you make public, and He knows that which you earn. (Chapter 6 verse 3)

It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself
above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from
it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with
you wherever you are. And Allah , of what you do, is Seeing. (Chapter 57 verse 4)

Have you not considered that Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is on the
earth? There is in no private conversation three but that He is the fourth
of them, nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them - and no less
than that and no more except that He is with them wherever they are.
Then He will inform them of what they did, on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allah
is, of all things, Knowing. (Chapter 58 verse 7)

And We are nearer to it than you, but you do not see(Chapter 56 verse 85)

O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you
to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man
)and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered. (Chapter 8 verse 24

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His
light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass
as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree,
neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if
untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills.
And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all
things. (Chapter 24 verse 35)

{27}

{26}

Everyone upon the earth will perish. And there will remain the Face of your
Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. (Chapter 55 verse 26-27)

And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might]
turn, there is the Face of Allah . Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and
Knowing. (Chapter 2 verse 115)

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me." (Chapter 26
verse 62)

[ Allah ] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. (Chapter 20
verse 46)

Now I provided countless proofs from the Quran to show that Allah Is Indeed
omnipresent and is not confined to a physical throne as some people try to state. No
sahaba ever asked where Allah is. The only argument the salafis have is that a slave
girl was asked by Muhammad (Saw) where is Allah, and she said above the sky. The
reason is clear that the slave girl was from the idolaters and the Prophet(Saw) was
trying to see if she differentiates with their beliefs and whether she believed in Allah
or other gods, and when she said the heavens it was made clear that she believes
Allah is the most high. Never else did Muhammad (Saw) ever ask where is Allah nor
did any sahaba ask this.
Allah states in chapter 42 verse 11:

[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves,
mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like
unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (Chapter 42 verse 11)
Once you make Allah into something like us, for example being confined to
something, that is no longer Allah. Be careful when describing Allah and confining
him, when Quran clearly declares that he is omnipresent. How? That is unknown to
us.

Allah states 8 times that He has turned to the arsh and istiwa does not mean sitting
on, rather to turn to. To adjust or sort out. Then turned to the heavens. This is
always stated after He states that He has created the earth. Allah always states that
He created the heavens and the earth and then says He turned to the throne. All 8
places Allah refers to turning to the throne after creating the heavens and the earth
for the first time. Every SINGLE time where Allah says Turning to the Arsh, it
ALWAYS Refers to the first time He created the heavens and the earth. Allah made
everything and then turned to the arsh. It does not state that Allah sat on the throne
as the Salafis think God forbid. Allah has never stated that anywhere. Always He
states He turned to the throne referring to the past after creating the heavens and
the earth the first time.
Can a salafi show me one place where Allah states He is confined to the arsh
nauzobilla? The weakness of a human being is we are at one spot at once. I am here
and only here. I cannot be on a chair and a sofa at the same time. Nor can I be in UK
and USA at the same time. This is a clear weakness of a human being. As a salafi do
you claim Allah has this weakness God forbid? Just pay attention to your beliefs and
you will understand that what the Quran says about Allah should be followed rather
than what you have been taught.
People say when Allah says He is near He refers to his knowledge. Muhammad (Saw)
never said this nor did Allah. This is only what people have said. Allah says I am
near. We have limits in space and time because of our dimensions. Allah has no
dimensions. If Allah is on the throne and not here, that states Allah has dimensions
which is contradicting what Quran states that There is nothing like Him.

The Arabic clearly states He is with you. Nowhere does He say His knowledge. Allah
states that wherever you turn your face, Allah is There and you will find His face.
Now there are 7 billion people. I can turn to the right, you can turn to your left and
other 7 billion people can turn their faces to other directions. Does this mean that He
has 7 billion faces now? God forbid of course not. Its clear that He is omnipresent
and everywhere.

Now people ask is Allah in the toilet? How can you ask this question as a
Muslim? This is said to confuse people and you should have respect for Allah then to
ask such things about him. Its even in human nature that Allah is with you wherever
you are. When you go to the toilet can Allah see you or not? Of course He can! Can
He hear you? Of course He can! Are you in His vision? Of course you are. Allah states
in the Quran clearly states Allah is all seeing and is always watching. Allah sees
everything and hears everything. Allah can clearly see what you are doing in the
toilet and also wherever else you are. If Allah can see you there and is aware of what
you do there, then of course He is there. Allah states in the Quran He is with you
wherever you are.
The earth is round, and you claim Allah is on top of the Arsh. Now let me ask you
something. The earth is round. You believe that the Arsh is at the top but the earth is
not flat so according to you the people who are on the opposite side of where I am
currently sitting, the arsh for them is on the bottom? For the people living on the top
side the arsh according to you would be at their top. The people living on the bottom
side, is there arsh on their top? Are you trying to claim that the arsh is also
underneath me? This is the same situation with the other sides. This is not
acceptable. Are you trying to claim there are four arsh? And four gods as well
nauzobilla? This is so illogical. It just refers to Allah being High, He is most High in
terms of Honor. This refers to in terms of dignity, not physical presence. Allah is not
physically described nor is He confined. If you give Allah dimensions this is
contradicting Quran and shows that your image of Allah is not the true Allah of the
Quran! In The Quran Allah mentions His Hands and Eyes as well. These statements
are not literal at all! Allah does not physically hands or eyes.
There are so many ayahs which state metaphorical things. If you take all of these
metaphorical then why only take his throne literal and everything else
metaphorically? This shows ignorance on your side. If you take his arsh literally then
take his hands and mouth and also his soul literally as well? Giving Allah a
dimension is not acceptable and is against Islam. Allah wants to be close to him not
distanced. He shows us how close He is so we fear Allah.

Here are some beautiful writings of Ahmad (As) in regards to the throne explained
