is comparable to three year British Bachelor degree (honour ) standard
Note: Most Bachelor degrees in Vietnam take 4 years. Bachelor degree in science
may take 5 years and medicine take 6 years. Students who got their Bachelor degree
can go straight into master degree in the UK especially those who have subjects
average score of 6.5 or higher.
Passed at score of 5.0 can be considered as ordinary degree in UK
Passed at score of 6.0 can be considered as third- class honours degree in UK
Passed at score of 6.5 can be considered as lower second-class honours in UK
Passed at score of 8.0 can be considered as upper second-lass honours in UK
Passed at score of 9.0 can be considered as first-class honours in UK

Brief description
Education in Vietnam is currently under development. More updated information
will be given in the near future. Currently, education is compulsory for children aged
six to ten.
The medium of instruction is now Vietnamese.
The school academic year runs from September to end of May.

Upper Secondary
On completion of nine-year basic education, pupils can either continue their studies
at upper secondary school, or move to vocational training.
Upper secondary education lasts three years, covering Grade 10 to 12.
Upper secondary schools admit those who have completed basic education and
prepare pupils for further education. The school year is divided into two terms of
about four months each.
The syllabus at upper secondary schools is a continuation of that at the basic
education schools.
Examinations are taken at the end of each term.
Upper secondary school examinations are the responsibility of the Ministry of
Education and Training. On successful completion of upper secondary school
education pupils are awarded the Bang tot nghiep pho thong trung hoc (Upper
secondary school graduation certificate)
Vocational training school
Vocational schools offer courses to both lower secondary leavers (grade 9) and the
upper secondary leavers (grade 12). Training courses last one to three years.
There are currently three separate strands of vocational training and technical
education in Vietnam:

Post- school Education Current
Post school education is provided by universities, teacher training college, teacher
training institutes and colleges. There are also some community founded (or
people founded) universities offering higher education in Vietnam.
Admissions
Admission is made on the basis of completed upper secondary education and a
national entrance examination.
Degrees and courses
Diploma (cao dang)
This diploma is the first university level qualification awarded usually after three
years of study.
Tot nghiep dai hoc (Bachelor degree)
A bachelor degree is usually awarded after four years of study. Science and medicine
take five and six years respectively.
Masters degree
Some institutions offer courses leading to the award of masters degree. It is usually
conferred after two years of study following the tot nghiep dai hoc
