A Note of Thanks
We had big problems on the Eid
because the main road to Dar-usSalaam was blocked due to a traffic
jam. Most people involved in conducting the Eid day service and
other activities were stuck on the
M40. Some members who left
home at 09:15 arrived at Dar-usSalaam at 15:30. They did not turn
back but persevered because they
wanted to spend the day with their
brothers and sisters from the
Jamaat.
Those who were at Dar-us-Salaam
rose to the occasion and stepped
forwards to make alternative arrangements for the Eid service, etc.
It shows that small though we are,
we can rise up to meet the greatest
of challenges. Thank you very
much everyone.

The Eid-ul-Fitr Message

from our Ameer
I wish you all a very Happy Eid-ulFitr. It marks the celebration of
completion of a month of devotion
to achieve nearness to Allah and live
our lives entirely in the way it
would please Him. He would like us

nations and live lives according to the instructions he sent through His Holy Quran.
We observed the duties the Quran commanded us to. If one succeeds the way Allah
wants us too we have attained a state of
Taqwah and Obedience that Allah loves His
servants to have. Such servants He calls His
Servants and also His friends. This was the
very purpose of creation of human beings.
Allah states in Verse 56 of Chapter 51: And
I have not created the jinn and the men
except that that they should serve me. I
must add that such service is for seeking
love of Allah, which should be the only
award in our minds when we obey the instructions He sent to us through the Holy
Quran. Its only when we do that will Allah
be near us in the real sense and respond to
our prayers when we beseech His help.
This is made clear in verse 186 of Chapter
2: And when my servants ask thee concerning Me, surely I am nigh. I answer the
prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me,
so they should hear My call and believe in
Me 0that they may walk in the Right Path.
This right Path we pray for is only attainable
through knowing what would lead us astray
from it. Just like we cant drive according to
law without knowing our road code, we

cant be on the Right Path, the path
of Allahs pleasure and nearness without reading and obeying the Quran
in every respect. This makes it mandatory for us to read the Quran and
follow the instructions in it.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad has
stressed this point in His book, Kishtee-e Nuh (The Ark of Noah) and I
quote below:
Therefore, be aware! Do not take a
single step in opposition to anything
contained in the Holy Book. Indeed,
I tell you truly that whosoever circumvents even the least of the seven
hundred commandments embodied
in the Holy Quran, closes the door of
salvation upon himself . The real

perfect paths of salvation have been

opened only by the Holy Quran; all
others were only its shadows.
Therefore, you should study this
Holy Scripture with the utmost
attention and the deepest thought
and you should love it as you have
never loved anything else.
Dear sisters and brothers,
Eid is day to make resolutions that
will lead to the betterment of our
souls. We have felt the nearness to
Allah. Lets resolve to continue in
that direction and use the Quran as
light to guide us on further. Let us
resolve that we will read the Quran
and ponder on it practice it for the
rest of our lives. Please pray for the
protection of the precious Palestinian lives that are being lost. There is
also a war against the terrorists and
their bases in Pakistan. Please pray
that Pakistan is rid of terrorism and
has a peaceful existence. Also pray
for protection of our Jamaat members and for spread of the Message
of Islam that we carry. Let us pray
for peace throughout the world.
Aameen.
I wish you all a Happy Eid. I pray
for you all. Please remember me in
your prayers as I pray for you.

Eid Al-Fitr in Gaza and

the West Bank
(From: The Huffington Post)
JERUSALEM (RNS) In Beit Anan,
a small Arab village in the West
Bank, Haya Dawod,
and her extended
family sit around
a large round
table in her parents
dining
room for the
celebratory Eid
meal.
Monday (July
28) marked the
first day of Eid al

-Fitr, the Muslim holiday that concludes the month long fast of Ramadan. Eid is usually a time of celebration three days of celebration, to
be exact.
But this year, the holiday mood in
the Palestinian territories is distinctly
less joyous and it shows in the
Dawods buffet. The spread included
roasted lamb, maamoul, a sweet
flaky dessert filled with honey and
nuts, and fawakih, a fruit platter
with grapes, apples, and mangos.
We usually have more food, said
Dawod, 21, and more music and
games, but because of whats happening in Gaza we have less.
This year, the television in the background brings news from Gaza
most recently, of the death of at least
eight children as a result of the
bombing of Gazas Al-Shifa Hospital.
This Eid is not Eid because of the
situation in Gaza, said Maher Abu
Mayaleh, a shopkeeper in the Arab
souk, or bazaar, in the Muslim
Quarter of Jerusalems Old City.
We are not happy. We do not want
to celebrate anything. Our people
are dying.
Eid is traditionally a time when people shop for new clothes, and buy
the best meats, sweets, and vegetables for their holiday meals. Families
travel to see uncles, cousins, and
siblings.
But this year, instead of sweets, people are drinking black coffee without
sugar, a sign of mourning in Palestinian culture. Instead of new clothes,
people are sending their alms to Gaza. Instead of going on vacation,

people stay home, glued to the TV

set.
Family is important during Eid and
the somber mood affects children
and teens alike. Hamed Hamams 7year-old son, Abed Alkareem, said
he is excited to see his family from
Ramallah and looks forward to playing with his cousins. But in solidarity
with the people of Gaza, the boy said
he didnt want presents or new toys
this year. Give them to Gaza, said
the boy who lives in Ramallah, a
Palestinian city in the West Bank.
Others are trying their best to lend a
hand, or an arm. I gave blood yesterday to go help the people on Gaza, said Ahmed Imam, a 16-year-old
resident of East Jerusalems Sheikh
Jarrah neighbourhood. Thats what I
did in honour of Eid. It is how I celebrate this year helping my brothers.
Surrounded by her female cousins,
Dawod said theres a point where I
even feel guilty when I laugh. My
brothers and sisters are suffering.

A Message from Shahid

We have all worked very hard during
Ramadan to improve ourselves.
However, it is easy to fall back into
our old habits and gradually lose the
benefit of our hard work.
Let us resolve that we will not let
that happen this year. We stopped
eating and drinking for the sake of
pleasing Allah. Let us continue to
make sacrifices to please Him. For if
He becomes our Friend and our Protector then no power on earth can
harm us. And constantly pray for the
safety and security of all Muslims.
So let us stop looking to others for
our security and prosperity and depend on ourselves.
