the 14th of August, 1947, he
was honoured to hoist the national flag of Pakistan on his
office building in Sialkot, where
he was working. He performed
his duties with great zeal and
honesty as was the custom of
the Jamaat. As he was the eldest, his parents asked him to
return to Rawalpindi, their
home town. He tried his best to
get transferred but failed despite many attempts. He resigned and came back to make
his parents happy. He started a
new career in the Commissioner's office and took a salary
cut of 20% of his previous
jobs.
He brought us up, a family

He had the honour of proofreading Baiyan-ul-Quran, the
Urdu translation with commentary of the Holy Quran by Maulana Muhammad Ali. This service has been acknowledged in
the print of the Quran. We feel
proud that we helped him compile the Dictionary of the Holy
Quran by the late Maulana S. M.
Tufail, published in 2010.
He was very punctual in
writing his diary and kept himself busy literary work up to

his last day. He completed the

final proofreading of books
sent by the Central Anjuman
two months before his death.
Almighty Allah timed it so
that I was with him for the last
two days before his death. I
was fortunate in that I was
there with him for the last
days of his life. During this
short time he refreshed us
with some of his golden
memories. I am sure he knew

Ten minutes later, he got up

from bed and went to the
kitchen. I followed him as he
poured some Coke and put the
bottle back in the fridge. He
tried to grasp the glass, but
suddenly started coughing and
so I massaged his back, but I
noticed that he was feeling uneasy. I held him from the back
and tried to pick him up but
found it difficult, so I called my
younger brothers Mazhar and

writing skills in Urdu and English alike.

He lived a perfect life and
was not on any medication. He
was being looked after by my
elder brother Mian Muzaffaruddin
Ahmad,

brother Mian Riazuddin Ahmad
and their families. May Allah
give them great rewards. He

Graveyard in the presence of

that the time had come to

meet his Master.
A day before of his death
he asked me about my schedule and I replied that I was at
his disposal. Then he said, We
will all go to the graveyard to
pay a visit to our parents. The
next day, around Asr time after prayer, we started our
journey to the last abode for
us all, the graveyard. Unfortunately, there was a massive
traffic jam and it started to get
dark, and he said, We had
better return home and visit
some other time.
We came back and he just
lay down on the bed. When he
heard the Maghrib Azan he got
up and started praying. When
I was praying, Azhar, my
younger brother, called from
the UK. That was the last
phone call for our dear father.

Riaz. We all picked him up and

brought him to his bed. It didnt take more than a minute,
but his soul left this earth and
departed to the heavens, leaving us all behind. Inna lillahi wa
inna ilaihi rajiun.
I feel myself lucky to have
been present there as he
breathed his last in my arms.
May Allah shower his eternal
blessings on him and reward
him with the highest rank in
paradise, and give patience and
strength to us all to overcome
this great loss. He left behind
his family and members of the
Jamaat grieving and remembering him for the services that
he rendered to the Jamaat. He
served his family and friends
with devotion and sincerity all
his life. He has written in
Paigham-e Sulah and helped
many people to improve their

family members and many of

members of the Jamaat. His
funeral prayers were led by
Maulana Aamer Aziz with a
true Ahmadi spirit. May Allah
give him more knowledge and
ability to serve the Anjuman
and the Jamaat at large,
Ameen.
Although its nearly a year
since he left, even so, sometimes subconsciously I pray for
his health as I used to do when
he was alive.
In the end, I, on behalf of
our entire family, would like to
thank all who shared their grief
and sorrow with us by paying a
visit, by making telephone calls
and by e-mail messages. This is
a humble effort by a son to pay
tribute to his learned father
and hope we all pray for him
and us; as and when you can.
