Am I wrong
For thinking that we could
be something for real?
Now am I wrong
For trying to reach the
things that I can't see?
But that's just how I feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel
Trying to reach the things
that I can't see
If you tell me I'm wrong,
wrong
I don't wanna be right,
right
If you tell me I'm wrong,
wrong
I don't wanna be right
Am I wrong
For thinking that we could
be something for real?
Now am I wrong
For trying to reach the
things that I can't see?
But that's just how I feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel
Trying to reach the things
that I can't see
So am I wrong
For thinking that we could
be something for real?
Now am I wrong
For trying to reach the
things that I can't see?
But that's just how I feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel
Trying to reach the things
that I can't see

Am I Wrong

Am I wrong for thinking

out the box from where I
stay?
Am I wrong for saying that
I choose another way?
I ain't tryna do what
everybody else doing
Just cause everybody doing
what they all do
If one thing I know, I'll fall
but I'll grow
I'm walking down this road
of mine, this road that I
call home
So am I wrong
For thinking that we could
be something for real?
Now am I wrong
For trying to reach the
things that I can't see?
But that's just how I
feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel
Trying to reach the things
that I can't see
Am I tripping for having a
vision?
My prediction: I'mma be on
the top of the world
Walk your walk and don't
look back, always do what
you decide
Don't let them control your
life, that's just how I feel
Fight for yours and don't
let go, don't let them
compare you, no
Don't worry, you're not
alone, that's just how we
feel.

No two people are

exactly the same. Its hard
enough for teenagers and
young adults to find their
place in the world but it
only gets harder as a gay,
transgender, or queer
individual. These
individuals are often told
that their gender, and or
sexual orientation are
merely a phase because it
doesnt comply with what
societys so called norm.
Nico & Vinz song Am I
Wrong is the perfect
anthem for individuals
that are constantly told
that they arent living their
life the right way simply
because they are unique
individuals. Sometimes it
is not enough to be
yourself sometimes you
have to fight for what you
believe is right for you no
matter how big the odds
against you are.

Am I wrong for thinking out the box from where I

stay. Am I wrong for saying that I choose another
way?
Transgender individuals are often bullied
simply because they dont identify with the gender
they were born with, which causes a lot of pain and
isolation in the lives of transgender individuals.
Unfortunately, because so many people dont
understand these individuals and their situation
many people suggest that they can be fixed but of
course this is never the case. The National Center
for Transgender Equality puts it like this, All
people, including young people, have a gender
identity a deeply rooted sense of themselves as
male or female. Gender identity is distinct from
sexual orientation, but like sexual orientation is a
fundamental part of a persons identity that cannot
be voluntarily changed This perfectly sums up the
fact that transgender individuals are just like
everyone else, and the only difference is that they
were not born with genitalia that usually goes with
the gender they identify with.

If one thing I know Ill fall but Ill grow. Im

walking down this road of mine, this road that
I call home.
Its a struggle for transgender people living in
a body that they feel they dont belong in, and it only
gets harder the older the person gets. An extremely
crucial time comes for every transgender individual,
which is puberty. Many young people of the
transgender community often speak about the
horrors that they associate with puberty, because
after puberty it is harder for children to identify
with their gender. Ruth Padawar from The New York
Times explains the social implications that come
with being a transgender child. Padawar states,
[parents] switched schools, changed churches
and even moved to try to shield their children (NY
Times). But while it is hard for transgender children
to identify with their preferred gender socially, it
benefits them later in adulthood.

Many members of the LGBTQ
community often face harsh judgment from
people that dont understand their lifestyle
choices. Transgender individuals, especially,
are often told that the way they live their
lives is sinful and wrong. It is important
that individuals accept themselves for who
they are in order to be free of the affect that
outside opinions cause. Just like Jazz,
members of the LGBTQ community have a
better chance at happiness if they chose to
express themselves as the person they
really are and not what society expects them
to be.

Fight for yours and dont let go, dont let
them compare you, no. Dont worry, youre
not alone, thats just how we feel.

Even today, minority groups are not

treated with the same respect and they do not
possess the same rights as the majority. As
minorities transgender people must fight
harder than those who are considered
normal for those rights. This reality makes
the lives of transgender individuals much
more difficult than necessary. Too often they
are not even given the right to be addressed
with the gender they identify with. This is
evident in the film My Life In Pink where the
protagonist Ludovic is bullied and ridiculed
multiple times. We also see it in our very own
colleges according to TIME, By effectively
saying no, womens colleges are endorsing
and strengthening a concept at the root of
transphobia (TIME Magazine). This only
shows how big the fight of the transgender
community still is. Transgender people
although often let down still continue to fight
for their rights.

If you tell me Im wrong, wrong, I dont

wanna be right, right.

No one wants to be told that their
beliefs are wrong or that their lifestyle is
abnormal but that is often a part of being
human. For transgender individuals this is
especially true. They are often told that
they're wrong for simply being themselves,
for identifying with the gender they feel
they should have been born with. With the
majority of society against the trans
community its a wonderful thing that so
many trans people continue to live their
lives as they please.

So am I wrong (Am I wrong), for

thinking that we could be something for
real? Now am I wrong (am I wrong) For
trying to reach the things that I cant see.

With so much controversy that
surrounds the transgender community it is
difficult for trans people to live normal
lives. Transgender children are often
caught in the middle of huge human rights
laws and laws that require a minimum age.
Due to this it is very difficult for many
children to get the proper treatment and
surgeries they need to live in their desired
body. Allowing a child like Jazz to express
themselves as the gender they associate
themselves with often a way to help them
live their dream until they can fully
transition if they choose to do so.
