FATIMA GULZAR RESEARCH PROPOSAL Research Title: MULTICULTURISM INFLUENCES WORK VALUES AT

researchers turned their attention more towards the diversity and culture. (Jenaibi, 2012) Culture can be
understood through many ways. Basically, it is the creation of many years of continuous civilization and

varies geographically and from one country to another country. Mostly it means specific characteristics

or racial group. (Delancy, 2013). Above definitions are used as a part of social knowledge which can be
perceived for beliefs, values and social norms within a group of people. (Yang & Wangb, 2006). Amongst
three subsystems, beliefs and values are the essential elements of a culture. (Matic, 2008). Power
distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism are recognized as four dimensions of cultural difference.
Different cultural groups have different favorites for dealing with similar groups of problems. (Yang &
Wangb, 2006) Work values are the rewards or goals people desire over their work according to the
standard of their preferences at the workplace (Chang & Wangb, 2006). Work values relating work
environment focusing on what employees prefer in an organization. Work values are divided into the
following four categories, intrinsic, extrinsic, power and social (Matic, 2008). Differences occurred in
employees motivation and performance was first commenced in order to explain the workplaces work
values. (Chang & Wangb, 2006). Maslows theory as well as Herzbergs intrinsic and extrinsic needs is
determined as a part of research for work values. These theories supports as their basic principle to
motivate unwanted needs of an individual (Yang & Wang, 2006). Work values hold important
