Photodesign
Description:

An advertisement created using my own photo and text. My favorite part is the
photo and how the color scheme plays right into it.

Date:

October 17, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

My job was to come up with an advertisement and then go out and take my own
picture, specific to that advertisement. Then after the photo was taken I was to
edit that photo in Photoshop and add text to convey my message.

Process:
I started with what I wanted to advertise. I saw some beautiful flowers and
decided to advertise for a horticulturist position. I took the quality picture with the
specific color scheme I wanted and then started editing in Photoshop. I watched
for the focus, color, contrast, and saturation of the image and edited them exactly
how I wanted. I applied the type boxes for information then finalized with some
critique from others to make it the best it could be.

Brochure
Description:

This is the brochure I created using all the programs and skills I have learned so
far. My favorite part was wrapping the text around the center flowers.

Date:

December 9, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

I was required to create a new business with a new logo then create a brochure
for said business. I had to make sure to include all the skills and design principles
Ive learned so far.

Process:
I started out with an idea for a floral shop. My brother helped me come up with
the business name and logo. I created the logo in illustrator then brought the logo
over to InDesign. In InDesign I created the brochure layout then added in all the
design details. I edited the main flower bouquet in Photoshop so that I could get
that nice text-wrap. I had to print this one several times in order to get the folds
and colors just right. But I ended up with my desired outcome.

Logos
Description:

Here are three logos I made in Illustrator for my fictitious photography business.
My favorite logo is the middle one.

Date:

November 1, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

I was to gain and use previously learned skills in Illustrator and create three
different logos for my fictitious photography business. I had to make sure to apply
creative color schemes and design principles.

Process:
I had to come up with an idea for a business and then create three very different
logos for it. That required me to be very creative, so I gathered help from other
great logo designs. With each new logo I had to use a new symbol and color
scheme so that really pushed me to think hard and be creative. Illustrator is an
amazing program and I love using it.

Montage
Description:

An inspiration poster using Photoshop and masking skills. My favorite part is the
woman that I masked in.

Date:

October 25, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

I was to use Photoshop to create an inspirational poster for my audience. We

were to learn how to mask an image in without making it look like a collage. All
while keeping the message in mind.

Process:
I started by thinking of what I wanted my spiritual message to be. Then I searched
for good quality images that would convey my message, I opened Photoshop and
started editing my photos. I took the image of the woman and separated her from
her background. Then I took the railroad image and added an old paper overlay
to get that aged look. Then I placed the woman and masked out some of her
features. Then I added the text and made sure everything flowed well to finish it
off.

Stationery
Description:

Front/Back of a business card I created using InDesign and Illustrator. My favorite

part is the logo.

Date:

November 8, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

My objective was to create my own business card for my fake business that would
appeal to my specific audience. I had to remember to include design principles.

Process:
I got inspiration from several different types of business cards and started working
on my own. I wanted to keep it really simple, so that I could better deliver my
message. I created the logo and little leaf design in Illustrator. Then linked those
into InDesign where I created the actual business cards. I got some critique,
adjusted, and ended up with this design!

Letter Head
Description:

A letter head I created for my fake business using the Logo from my business
card. My favorite part is the watermark on the page.

Date:

November 8, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

I was to create a letterhead design using InDesign. I had to include and apply the
design principals that I have learned so far.

Process:
Having already created the logo and leaf design in Illustrator for my business
cards, all I had to do was create another design and place those in there. Again,
my design is really simple but I think it is effective and the design looks nice. After
getting some helpful critique I ended up with this final design!

Web Page
Description:

A Web Page I created using HTML and CSS basics. My favorite part is how
everything came together with the CSS styling.

Date:

November 22, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

I was to start from scratch and create a web page all on my own! The actual
content was to talk about the design process for my logo. After creating the basic
HTML web page I was to add CSS styling to get make create a good flow.

Process:
First I started with the body copy about the actual logo design. Then I gained
experience in the HTML field and started creating my own web page. It was pretty
simple at first but then when I added the CSS styling and it started looking really
great! Styling with CSS was fun, but also difficult to incorporate and apply all the
design principles that I wanted.

Flier
Description:

This is an event for the Graduate Leadership conference. My favorite part is either
the title or the text wrap.

Date:

October 2, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

Objective was to get to know InDesign. So we were given the photos and body
copy and told to create a nice design that conveyed the message.

Process:
I started by sketching out different design ideas. I picked one and started working
on it in InDesign. I love InDesign now, but it was hard to get the hang of it at first. I
started with the Title and then moved to the body copy. I applied the text wrap to
the image to get a nice flow. I finished with the DTP that was similar to the title on
the bottom to tie everything together.

Event Ad
Description:

This is an ad for a fictitious event created all in Microsoft Word. My favorite part is
the photo because it is of me and my mom.

Date:

October 10, 2014

Course/Instructor:

Visual Media/Brother Pingel

Objective:

We were to use/think of a fund-raiser event and create an ad for it. But we had to
use one of our own photos. We had to create it completely in Microsoft Word.

Process:
I started by scanning in this photo of my Mom and me because I love the photo
and wanted to do something with it. So I created a fundraising event around
the photo. I pulled colors from the photo to create the design. I created the
actual design in Word, which was really difficult because I was used to using the
awesome program InDesign. After getting critiques I adjusted and ended up with
this final product!
