Bendel Nursery School-Mzuzu, Malawi
This nursery school, run by the Holy Spirit Sisters of
Tanzania serves 80 vulnerable children aged 2-5 with day
care & lunch (often the only substantial meal of the day).
Many have lost both parents to HIV-Aids and are in the care
of grandparents or older siblings. Older siblings are free to
go to school or work to support the family when their
younger siblings are cared for at the school. You are invited
to Pogue Mahone Pub (777 Bay St near College St) on
Saturday, January 23rd from 7:00 pm on, to support this
worthwhile project - live Celtic Music - Admission: $15.

Group for an educational evening focussing on youth
empowerment - featuring a panel presentation and small
group discussion.
Learn more about key issues affecting youth at risk, that
may lead to a better understanding of root causes and how
we might work in partnership with others to address the
needs expressed by youth. Presenters include:

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
January 17th - 24th
You are cordially invited to join the major Christian leaders
and city-wide clergy within Toronto for the opening
ecumenical prayer service celebrating the Week of Prayer
for Christian Unity. The theme of the week is “We are
witnesses” taken from chapter 24 of Luke’s gospel.

Speaker: The Most Rev. Thomas Collins, Archbishop of
the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto
Music: St. Michael’s Choir School

An offering will be taken up for the Churches on-the-Hill
Food Bank. Refreshments will be served following the

The Pontifical Council for Social Communications
Archbishop Collins has been appointed to the Vatican's
Pontifical Council for Social Communications. This group,
with religious & lay representatives from around the world,
looks at how the church communicates both within our
family of faith and to the rest of the world, using modern
media and other communication tools to evangelize. The
group meets several times throughout the year in Rome and
provides a wonderful opportunity for the Vatican to stay
connected to the church abroad. Congratulations to
Archbishop Collins on this new appointment!
