Breakdown of Grading:
10% Think Book/Bell Work/ Participation
30% Knowledge Assessments including Tests and Quizzes
20% Class Portfolio
15% Action Project
25% Daily Assignments / Homework/ Projects This may include individual and group
projects, speeches, written reports
Think Book: 2-3 times a week you will be asked to respond to a question, brainstorm, or process information in
the form of a written Think Book entry. Think Books will be graded weekly based on completeness and evidence of
thought. Think Books should be kept in student hanging files unless otherwise instructed by the teacher. If absent,
check with other students for missing questions, or entry topics.
Action Project: All students will develop an individual agriculture related project/activity. This project must include a
minimum of 10 hours of out of class work. Projects must be agriculture based and preferably relate to the class
subject. Projects must be approved by the instructor. Projects could include volunteer work, agriculture employment,
building/creating a product, conducting a research experiment, offering a service, etc. Students are required to keep
record of hours spent, money spent, money earned, and a description of tasks/skills learned. At the end of the
semester students will turn in a project summary including a description of the project, records, skills acquired, and
five pictures.
Class Portfolio: Students will provide 4 portfolio exhibits of lessons learned in Ag. Class. Each exhibit must include an
artifact (paper, test, project, assignment, etc.) and a 1 page reflection on knowledge/skills gained, applications to
other subjects and application to future career opportunities. The action project report can count for one of the
exhibits. An updated resume must also be included in the portfolio.
If you were absent it is your responsibility to check the class white board for any work you may have missed, and
take care of that in a timely manner.
ANY work that is handed in late within 1 week of the due date will be deducted 10%. After 1 week a 50%
deduction will be taken.
If you have an EXCUSED absence you will receive one day to make up that work for each day excused, and then
it will become late work. Work from any unexcused absences can not be made up.
