God-fearing, honest and trustworthy

disciplined and determined
responsible and reliable
calm, thoughtful, patient and confident
gentle, loyal and proud
humble and reverent
tough, self-reliant, persistent and hard-working
organized, neat and poised
inquisitive and teachable
healthy and smart
vibrant and enthusiastic
kind, friendly, helpful and generous
brave, daring and risk-taking
moral and ethical in all their dealings with friends and foes

Our Technology-Focus Philosophy to Education

AITs academic and professional skill development programs are technology-bias. Apart from the technologybased programs like: Computer Science and Engineering programs, the curriculum of traditional/nontechnology based programs like: Business, Management, Social Science and Humanities programs have inbuilt in them the application and the use of technologies as they relates to the subject matter of these
programs. All programs at AIT therefore have a technology-focused curriculum.
AIT does not only utilize technology to deliver quality and affordable programs innovatively, but also our
students are taught and empowered to use and exploit all aspects of technology to learn and accumulate
knowledge more efficiently and smartly. We do not only teach technology-rich curriculum on all our programs
but we also use technology to do what we do smartly and innovatively. At AIT, we believe that we are
preparing our students for the work place, the economy and the society of the future. The future is technology
and AIT is the University of the Future. We are providing technology-focused quality university education
and training, specially trademarked and customized for the future.

The AIT Campuses

AIT currently operates from a number of physical campuses in Accra. There are plans to open campuses in a
number of regional capitals in the near future. The AIT Virtual Campus (the AIT Virtual University) to be
operated in collaboration with the Global Village University (GVU) as a constituent division of the AIT
system, will soon start offering AIT certificate, diploma and degree programs by distance. There are also plans
to open AIT physical campuses in a number of African countries starting with Kenya, Rwanda and Ethiopia
in the near future.

Our Flexible Multi-mode Program Delivery System

AIT students can avail of three modes of program delivery. Campus-Based (face-to-face) Delivery Mode
(CBM); Online Program Delivery Mode (OPM); and Mixed Mode Program Delivery (MMP). Students are
free to decide on which mode of program delivery to register for to undertake a given course or program. Also
students who register to do their courses online can either opt for online-instructor-led or for onlineindependent learning. The fees for online-independent learning courses or programs are a fraction of those of
either the campus-based face-to-face or the online-instructor-led courses or programs.

Institutional and Industrial Partnerships

AIT is committed to promoting excellence in education, training and research through local and international
partnerships and collaborations. Currently, AIT is in partnership with leading universities and institutions in
USA, India and Malaysia to deliver world-class academic and professional programs in engineering, computer
science and information technology; business and management. To ensure that our graduates meets the
requirements of industry and commerce, AIT is partnering with a number of Professional Bodies in the
development of the curriculum and other aspects of its programs. AIT is currently in negotiation with the
Ghana Institution of Engineers (GHiE), the Institute of Chattered Accountants, Ghana; the Chattered Institute
of Bankers, Ghana and the Chattered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants (CIAMC),
Ghana among others on: joint program development and delivery and on the engagement of their members to
serve on AITs Adjunct Faculty.
AIT is also in consultation with industry leaders like: the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the Council
for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) on a
number of areas of cooperation that will enrich our programs and the job-readiness of our graduates. AIT is
also in partnership with the Ghana Civil Service through the Office of the Head of the Civil to support the
training of IT personnel for the Civil Service.

Pioneering Multiple Degree Concept in Ghana

AIT encourages its students to pursue more than one certificate/diploma or degree program at a time. It is
possible for students on a particular course to also in parallel register for an allied program and through hard
work will be able to graduate with say two degrees in four or at most five years of study at AIT. For example it
will be possible for a student doing a degree program in Computer Science to also pursue in parallel a degree
in either Information Technology or Management Science or in Computer Applications. Giving another
example, a student can simultaneously pursue a certificate/diploma or degree program in say
Telecommunications Engineering and Electronic Engineering.
We also encourage our students to take relevant professional certification courses in their field while pursuing
their degree program at AIT. For example, students studying for their Computer Science or IT degree will be
encouraged the take professional certification examinations like: Computer+/A+, Network+/Networking+,
CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Certifications, Oracle Certification among others. Our students are encouraged to
use the vast leaning resources of AIT Online to, if they so wished pursue independent studies that could lead
to getting multiple degrees from AIT.

Making a Difference through Practical Industrial Experience

All under-graduate degree programs at AIT have supervised industrial attachment (internship) as a mandatory
component of each program. Students spend the summer months after completing their 3rd Year and the 1st
Semester of their 4th Year (Final Year) -- a minimum of 8 months on industrial attachment/internship. The
emphasis is on gaining practical industry-based experience and the industrial placement of our students are
done by the University to ensure that students are placed in organizations and establishments whose core
business are of relevant to the degree specialization of the student.
Each industrial attachment student is supervised by an industrial supervisor (at his/her place of work) and by
an academic supervisor from the University. The academic supervisors undertake a number of industrial/site
visits to meet with their counterpart industrial supervisors and to assist and grade the students. Students on
completion of their industrial attachment are required to write and present a report on: what they have
accomplished, skills leant, projects undertaken, problems encountered, experienced gained and what they
managed to developed (if any) during their industrial attachment. The Report is graded so is the presentation.
The Industrial Supervisor and the Academic Supervisor also prepares a report on the student. Students are
awarded credits for their entire industrial attachment work and this count towards their degree. Students who
fail the industrial attachment component of their program cannot graduate.

Campus Business Units and Industrial Packs

To provide avenues for on-the-job practical experience and work-study programs for our students, AIT
operates a number of On-Campus Business Units and Industrial Facilities. Our students gain work experience
and practical skills working in these facilities. The Industrial and Technological Parks and facilities also
provide avenues for commercialization of the outputs of R&D and industrial research work of our faculty and
students. Our students on work-study programs apart from gaining practical and work experience earn income
to support their education at AIT.

The AIT Online E-Learning and E-Library Facility

AIT Online is a campus-based e-learning facility of the University, providing access to over 10,000+ learning
resources and materials in all fields targeted at the general public and as well as AIT students. The AIT
Online facility also hosts the Universitys Electronic Library systems providing our students with unlimited
access to e-books and other learning resources to support the entire academic and the professional level
training programs of the University. Non-AIT students and learners access the e-learning resources of AIT
Online through paid-subscription

The AIT Academic Programs

AIT offers academic programs at both the undergraduate and the postgraduate (graduate) levels. The
undergraduate programs are offered at: Certificate, Diploma, Associate degree and Bachelor degree levels.
Certificate level programs are of six months duration and lead to the award of the Certificate in Technology
(CTech) award. Diploma level programs are up to 12 months in duration and lead to the award of the Diploma in
Technology (DTech).
The Associate Degree programs leading to the award of the Associate in Technology (ATech) award are of two
years duration; with the Bachelor in Technology (BTech) or Science (BSc) or Engineering (BEng) programs
lasting four years. Students with CTech qualification will require only six months to obtain their DTech in the
same subject; while those with AITs DTech qualification planning to pursue an ATech program in the same or
related subject will require only an additional one year of study at AIT. A student with ATech degree from AIT
who wishes to go on the BTech/BSc/BEng program in the same or related subject will require just additional two
years of study to obtain the degree.
AIT also offers Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma programs. The Postgraduate Certificate
(PGCert) program is of one semester duration and the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) program is of two
semester duration. Students with a good Postgraduate Certificate can proceed to do the Postgraduate Diploma
program and those with a good Post Graduate Diploma can be recommended to do the one semester student
research project and submit their dissertation to qualify for the award of the Masters degree.
AIT also plan to offer graduate level programs in a number of key subject areas at the Masters and the Doctoral
(PhD) levels. The Masters level programs will require 12 months (3 semesters) of study after the Bachelors
degree. The first two semesters of the Masters program will involve taught course work and an end-of-semester
examination and the last semester is devoted to student research project work that should lead to a substantial
dissertation as a partial fulfillment for the award of the Masters degree (MTech, MSc, MEng, MBA). There are
also plans to start PhD programs in a number of fields at a later date.
