2.0 OBJECTIVES
2.1

To simulate the modal analysis of cantilever beam

using finite element method in ANSYS software.

2.2

To conduct experimental impact test on cantilever

beam using.

2.3

To compare the modal analysis results from both

experimental and model simulation.

3.0 METHODOLOGY
The methodology for this project is based on two
methods, which are experimental modal testing by impact
test and model simulation by finite element method using

The results obtained from finite element analysis

and modal testing analysis should be almost the
same. The results that will be collected are;
a) Number of mode shapes that occur in the
beam
b) Natural frequency values of the beam
c) Behaviour of each modes that will be
displayed in 3D by ANSYS software and
in 2D by experimental modal testing.
