Course Description:
This course in Computer Imaging will explore design principles and visual art concepts
through the composition of digital images. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe ImageReady
will be the primary tools used for the production of print, computer and web based
media projects. The course will consist of lectures, assignments, projects, quizzes,
demonstrations and critiques. Each aspect of the course will foster the development of
artistic and technological integration skills.

Course Requirements:
Attendance is mandatory.
Assignments are due on the assigned date.
Original material must be used for projects.

Required Text:
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Classroom in a Book (with CD ROM)
by Adobe Experts Team

Required Supplies:
CD-R or CD-RW or Zip disk or Flash drive

Grading Procedures:

Grades are based on the following g uidelines:


20 points: 10 tutorial lessons (2 points each)
20 points: 10 design studies (2 points each)
20 points: 10 quizzes (2 points each)
20 points: 2 projects (10 points each)
10 points: 1 advanced technique
10 points: 1 critique

A 90 - 100 points
B 80 - 89 points
C 70 - 79 points
D 60 - 69 points
F 0 - 59 points
A grade of incomplete may be given, at the discretion of the instructor, when a student
has completed at least 70% of the required course material but cannot complete all
requirements by the end of the semester. An incomplete course grade must be
completed within the time period specified by the instructor. Upon completion of the
required work, the incomplete may be converted into a letter grade by the instructor. If
the grade of incomplete is not removed by the end of the specified period, it will
automatically be changed to an F.
Students who are unable to complete this course must request an incomplete or
formally withdraw from it at the Registrar’s office.

Academic Dishonesty:
Scholastic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, statements, acts or omissions
related to applications for enrollment or the award of a degree, and/or the submission as
one’s own work of material that is not one’s own. As a general rule, scholastic
dishonesty involves one of the following acts: cheating, plagiarism, collusion and/or
falsifying academic records. Students suspected of academic dishonesty are subject to
disciplinary proceedings.
