AIRCRAFT INSPECTION CHECKLIST

PARACHUTE LANDING FALLS


1.

Interior
a. Floors are clean and non-skid material is present.
b. All equipment and roller conveyers are properly secured.
c. Sufficient number of seats and seatbelts are available and properly configured.
d. Emergency exits are clearly outlined in yellow.
BA-22 / AEBP
a. At least one per safety per active paratroop door.
U-bolts (Forward and Aft)
a. Free of rust, corrosion, and cracks. Not distorted in shape.
Anchor line cables
a. Forward latch assembly is in its locked position.
b. Using a sufficient length of inch cotton webbing, inspect the entirety of all cables. Broken wires: 3
wires in 1 inch on one strand, 6 total wires on any 7 strands in 1 inch. Free of kinks, rust and
corrosion.
Towed Parachutist Retrieval System
a. One complete TPRS present and serviceable for each active paratroop door.
b. Retriever cable secured a minimum of 4 inches above anchor line cables.
Jump Platform
a. C-130H / C-130J-30
i. Non-skid material is present
ii. Free of bends or cracks
iii. Down locks seat properly
iv. Hinge plates are properly secured with a minimum of four turns of .032 inch or greater
stainless steel wire (most common method) or tie-down stud and screw and washer.
v. Protruding sockets near paratroop door are taped.
b. C-17
i. Non-skid material present
ii. Platform lights are serviceable
iii. Tie-down ring pan covers present covering protruding sockets
Paratroop Doors
a. C-130H / C-130J-30
i. No Sharp or protruding edges, lead, top, and trail edge.
ii. PIP pin is present

i. No sharp or protruding edges, entire outer edge.
ii. Up-lock is present securing paratroop door.
Air Deflectors
a. C-130H / C-130J-30
i. Extends out a minimum of 15 inches.

20 minute time warning (Safeties Don BA-22/AEBP, attach special items of equipment, A-series containers)
10 minute time warning (Safeties seat JM main curved pin, Safeties move forward in A/C, JM hook up and issue Jump
Commands)
GET READY Jumpers unfasten seatbelts.
OUTBOARD PERSONNEL STAND UP - (C-130H/J-30 outboard on seats. Seats up and adjustable leg straps tightened and
secured.
INBOARD PERSONNEL STAND UP (All seats up and secure. Adjustable leg straps tightened and secured.)
HOOK UP (Hookup to appropriate anchor line cable, spring opening gate facing skin of A/C, proper bite held at eye level with
elbow held high.)
CHECK STATIC LINES (JM issue supplementary command, Safety inspects each Jumpers USL-M from the USL snap hook
to the main curved pin protector flap.)
CHECK EQUIPMENT (JMs wait until all movement has ceased, issue each other the first thumbs up then check their own
equipment.
SOUND OFF FOR EQUIPMENT CHECK (JMs receives all ok from Jumpers, issues a second thumbs up and turns to the aft
of the A/C.)
JM assumes the number one jumper position and has the number one jumper check their USL-M.
Paratroop doors opened at the 3 minute slow down for C-130H/J-30 or 6 minute slow down for C-17.
Loadmaster turns door over to JM Safety control my static line.
Paratroop Door Check for C-130H/J-30:
a.
Secure lead support bracket, rotate into the paratroop door and secure the trail support bracket.
b.
Seat the PIP pin with lead hand.
c.
Kick the lead down lock with lead foot and place it back inside, off jump platform.
d.
Kick the trail down lock with trail foot then place it on the center of the jump platform between the yellow lines.
e.
Trace the trail edge beginning from the top all the way down to the trail down lock then back up to the top.
f.
Re-secure the trail support bracket and conduct an initial clear to the rear.
g.
Keep your trail foot in place and come back inside. Check Jumpers and then check the Safety and take up a rest
position to look for the 1minute reference point.
h.
Issue 1 minute to your Jumpers with your lead hand at your 1 minute reference point.
i.
Return to your rest position and look for your 30 second reference point.
j.
Conduct a final clear to the rear at your 30 second reference point.
k.
Rotate inside so you are facing your jumpers and issue the final thumbs up to the opposite JM.
l.
Issue STAND BY, bisect the lead edge of your paratroop door ensuring you are not impeding the anchor line cable.
Once you are set secure your USL-M from the Safety.
m. Safety move to the number one Jumper and secure their USL-M, allow them to rotate into the paratroop door then
position yourself to take the number two jumpers USL-M with your lead hand.
n.
On the green light the PJ will issue a verbal GO while bending forward at the waist. The AJ will issue a verbal GO and
tap their number one Jumper second after the PJs number one jumper exits that paratroop door.
Paratroop Door Check for C-17 Globemaster III:
a.
Secure lead support bracket, rotate into the paratroop door and secure the trail support bracket.
b.
With your trail hand reach up and secure the paratroop door lifting bar and pull down while you simultaneously look at
the up lock, located on the upper lead edge, to ensure it is properly engaged.
c.
Trace the outside edge of the paratroop door with your lead hand beginning at the 12 OClock position. Trace the top,
trail and bottom until you reach the 6 OClock position then back up to the 12 OClock by way of the trail edge.
d.
Re-secure the trail support bracket with your trial hand. With your lead hand grasp the hand hold and conduct an initial
clear to the rear.
e.
Come back inside and check your Jumpers then your Safety.
f.
Take up a rest position and look for your 1 minute reference point.
g.
Issue 1 minute to your Jumpers with your lead hand at your 1 minute reference point.
h.
Return to your rest position and look for your 30 second reference point.
i.
Conduct a final clear to the rear at your 30 second reference point.
j.
Rotate inside so you are facing your jumpers and issue the final thumbs up to the opposite JM.
k.
Immediately check to see if the Amber Light has been illuminated. If it has not wait until the Amber Light illuminates and
then issue the jump command of STAND BY. Do not put a jumper in the paratroop door when the Red Light is on.
l.
Bisect the lead edge of your paratroop door ensuring you are not impeding the anchor line cable. Once you are set
secure your USL-M from the Safety.
m. Safety move to the number one Jumper and secure their USL-M, allow them to rotate into the paratroop door then
position yourself to take the number two jumpers USL-M with your lead hand.
n.
On the green light the PJ will issue a verbal GO while bending forward at the waist. The AJ will issue a verbal GO and
