(1)--Introduction-This is the PC version (v1.2) of Silent Hill, which is one of the most (if not T
HE most) scariest
games you'll ever play. The PC version is based on ePSXe, a Playstation emulator
. ePSXe
is the main "engine" for the game. However, we have tweaked it to fully support
Silent Hill
and provide the best game experience possible. We've also simplified the configu
ration process
greatly, so no more hassling with various emulators trying to get the game to wo
rk correctly.

(2)--Configuring Settings-Run the Silent Hill launcher (using the "Silent Hill" shortcut in the start menu
or desktop).
Then click where it says "Settings". This is where you can change various settin
gs that change
the graphics and how the game looks. Changing various options can affect how wel
l the game
performs on your system. To view a description of each setting, move the mouse c
ursor over the
name of each setting. Once you're through configuring the settings, make sure yo
u click "Apply".
There is also the ability to set all settings back to their defaults. Just click
"Defaults" to
do so.

(3)--Changing Controls-Run the game launcher and then click "Controls". Here you will be able to re-map
most of the
controls to the keyboard key that you wish to use. Once you have mapped your con
trols, be sure
to click "Apply" to save them. You can also click "Defaults" to change all contr
ols to their
default mappings.
If you wish to configure the controls using an outside program (such as the emul
ator), rather
than from the launcher, then you may do so. However, make sure that you FIRST en
able the
"Use External Configuration" option. This will disable the built-in control conf
iguration
system. Using an outside program (such as the emulator) to configure the control
s can be
useful, such as if you want to use a gamepad. (Read further for more info on gam
epads).
Here are the default control mappings (can be changed if desired):
Esc = Exits the game. There's no prompt so make sure you have the game saved fir
st (if needed).
F1 = Quick Save
F2 = Cycle Quick Save Slots
F3 = Quick Load (from currently selected slot)
F5 = Disable\Re-enable Mouse Support (see description below)
F10 = Freeze (pause) anywhere in the game (even videos). Press again to un-freez
e.

(4)--Enabling Use of a Gamepad-It's not possible to configure a gamepad through the game launcher, due to the u
nknown coding
of the emulator's gamepad features. However, you can still use one if you config
ure it
using the emulator itself (ePSXe.exe).
First, make sure you enable the use of external control configuring. To do this,
run the game
launcher, go to "Controls", then select the option labeled "Use External Configu

ration". What
this does is disables the integrated control configuration system, and allows an
other program
(such as the emulator) to configure the controls instead.
Now that an outside program can be used, run the emulator. You can do this by op
ening the
"ePSXe.exe" file, which is located in your Silent Hill directory. Then click "Co
nfig", and then
go to "Game Pad", and click "Pad 1". This is where you will map the controls. Si
nce this is a
Playstation emulator, it shows a Playstation gamepad.
Here's what each button on the gamepad does:

Now you can configure the use of a gamepad.

(5)--Using Quick Save\Load-The quick save feature allows you to save anywhere at any point in the game. If
you want
to be able to use multiple quick saves, use the cycle quick save slots option (F
2). Whatever
slot you currently have it set at is what the Quick Save (F1) and Quick Load (F3
) use.
For example, you can use F2 to pick a quick save slot. From then on whenever you
quick save
or quick load, it'll use the data from that slot. Push F2 again (cycle to anothe
r slot) and
it will now start using the quick save\load data from that new slot.
Although you can use quick save, you can still save normally using the save poin
ts throughout
the game. Whenever you access the "Save" screen at a save point, you can use bot
h save Slot 1 and
Slot 2. There's no difference, so use either one. Also, you can save more than o
nce in both
slots. You can have pretty much an infinite number of different saves.

(6)--Using Mouse Support-The mouse support isn't really that great, since the game wasn't originally mean
t to be
used with a mouse. However you can use it if you want. Press and hold either the
left or right
mouse button. Then move the mouse up a little bit until you start moving. While
you're
walking (or running), you can move the mouse left or right to turn in that direc
tion.
The mouse only works for movement. To fire weapons and use items you still have
to use
the keyboard keys. To disable mouse support, press F5. Press it again to re-enab
le it.

(7)--How to Play In A Playstation-If you want to play Silent Hill in a playstation, then it's possible. All you ne
ed to do is
burn the "data.iso" to CD using any program that supports ISO burning (Nero, Eas
y CD Creator,
etc). Please note that in order to play burned games in a Playstation you need t
o have a modchip
installed (or know how to do the swap trick).
