NO MORE HARM! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Demand grows for revenue,
closing tax loopholes to
counter all-cuts budget
It’s time to send a message to legislators
to support Book 2 budget alternative
Now that the governor has unveiled her brutal
but required “all-cuts” supplemental budget plan,
all eyes are on her promised alternative budget that
would consider generating revenue and closing tax
loopholes to avoid the kinds of drastic cuts seen
earlier this year.
As it is, the “Book 1” plan rolled out Dec. 9 is a
budget balanced on the backs of quality services and
state employee families.
It’s unacceptable and now WFSE/AFSCME
members have to fight for an alternative budget that
generates new revenue, closes some of the tens of bil-
lions in tax loopholes and asks members on the front
lines common sense ways to save money.
Right after the governor announced her budget,
the WFSE/AFSCME-supported Rebuilding Our
Economic Future Coalition held a press conference to
publicly oppose the supplemental spending plan.
Even the governor admits it’s an unacceptable
budget and she will propose a “Book 2” budget once WFSE/AFSCME members once again plan a constant presence at the Capitol. These DSHS members gathered Dec. 10.
