College Education: Purpose of College Education

Education enligtens people's mind and builds the character of the nation. Education
bring's displine and harmony in human lives. It empower's people and brings maturity in
our decisions. Educations helps people to get awareness of their rights, obligations and
get information of different things. It also creates a bridge for people to communicate and
interact among themselves. Education helps people to understand different culture,
civilization and religion of other people. In every level of society education is the most
essential thing and also it gives an opportunity to be successful in life. The purpose of
College Education is to help people to grow personally and intellectually.
As America's economy is changing from manufacturing economy to more knowledge
based economy. Unemployement rate is high, so only few job opportunities are available.
People who have some college level educations are high in demand as compared to High
school graduates. High school graduates should focus on two year college degree. The
two- year college can help people to improve their knowledge and communication skills.
People can get an associate degree in shorter time and it would be easy for them to pay
off loan debts after graduating from college. People should understand that college
education helps, but not all two- years degree can give you better pay. A person should
choose wisely what field is currently in demand. Also college education creates an
excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested to transfer to a four- year
university.
Due to so much competition in job market, organization's prefer to hire those who have
good skills and college level education. To improve yourself and get a job quickly a

person should do associate degree. The two- year college saves time and also gives less
stress to pay off the college loan. To get a good paying job a person dont need a four
years bachelors degree. Two years college degree can help people to get a good paying
job, if they choose the field which is currently high in demand. Some of the high in
demand fields are Medical Assitant, Dental Hygentist, Computer tech and Accounting.
College education helps people to grow and broaden their minds. College education
prepares people to get ready for bachelors degree if some of them are interested to
continue their education. The statement below agrees that college education is important
in todays economy. Because of that government is making an effort to encourage people
to improve their skills and knowledge by going to college.
The Obama administration seems to agree. Under his American Graduation Initiative,
announced in July, President Barack Obama is calling for an additional 5 million
community college graduates by 2020, including those who earn associate degrees or
certificates or who go on to graduate from four-year institutions. Beyond that, he wants
every American to commit to at least a year of higher education or career training,
whether at a community college or a four-year school, or through a vocational program or
apprenticeship. [Footnote 2]
Government want's people to be educated atleast they should get college level education
because educated people can help the economy of country to prosper. It's the
responsibility of all people to support the country for the development. To get more
knowledge and skills one should get an associate degree or a certificate. Forexample
people from different countries like Japan or India are successful because these countries
have high rate of educated and qualified people. Education outcome is always positive,

people can get benefit from education on daily basis. Educated people who are not
professionals like house wives can help their children to do their home work.
In the most recent American Freshman survey conducted by the Cooperative Institutional
Research Program at the University of CaliforniaLos Angeles, 85.9 percent of entering
students said that to be able to get a better job was the number one reason they were
pursuing college degrees (p.9).Nothing surprising there. Nearly 83 percent in this same
survey reported, however, that they also went to college to learn more about things that
interest me, and 72.4 percent said they pursued a college degree to gain a general
education and appreciation of ideas (p.10).
College Education is the most important thing in todays economy because it helps people
get a better job and earn more money. It also helps people to improve their knowledge
and gives them satisfaction to learn the field's that they are interested in. People who go
in fields which they are interested in helps them to learn better and quickly. Forexample
Bill Gates were interested in computer programing and did some college level education.
He had a passion in computer's field he pursuaded computer as a career and now he is
very successful in his field. A person with no interest in his field can still give positive
result because most people are focused on earning better money rather than their interest.
College Education is a long term investment. A person should smartly choose his career,
so that in the end it can give a fruitful result. Just like people want to improve themselves
some organization want their employee's to get updated for further education. Most
companies offer the benefit to pay for further education of employee.
