The Interview Process


1st Stage

2nd Stage

Our first interview is biographical and competency-based,


giving both parties the opportunity to discover whether the
vacancy in question is suitable. This will take approximately
60 minutes and will be conducted by either the recruiting
manager or a member of the recruitment team. Following
this interview, there will be an assessment of your match to
the job profile and Blue Arrows expectations.

If successful at interview, you will be invited to attend a


second interview with a regional director. This will focus on
gaining further clarification of background and competency,
identifying a match to the Blue Arrow competencies,
which we interview against. Financial examples of previous
performance will be probed and this interview will last
up to an hour.
In the case of Branch Manager positions, following success
at the first face-to-face interview, you will be asked to
complete a Thomas International PPA and attend a half day
at our assessment centre.

Work
for us

PPA - Identifies behavioural characteristics. These are then


evaluated in line with the job description and profile.
Following success at the 1st stage and the completion of
the PPA assessments, prospective Branch Managers will be
invited back to attend an assessment. This will be conducted
by the recruiting manager and a member of the Blue Arrow
executive team. A presentation will be required and you will
be given a brief prior to the assessment giving you time to
prepare. This interview and assessment will normally take
4 hours and will probe deeper into areas already discussed
within the other interviews and the results from the PPA.

Realising that it was becoming increasingly difficult for young


people to gain the experience needed when entering the job market,
Blue Arrow decided to hire apprentices.
Our business is all about helping our
local communities to either find jobs
for people or people for jobs. We
realise that it is increasingly difficult
for young people to gain experience
when entering the job market.

people a broad range of skills and
can really help give people the
experience needed.

Undertaking their Apprenticeship with


Blue Arrow, enables the apprentices to
gain valuable experience in a diverse
industry. Modules covered include
customer service, finance, business
administration, presentations, some
experience in sales, dealing with office
equipment, checking documentation
and various other modules. They learn
excellent communication skills through
dealing with a variety of customers
and clients and learn how to work
as part of a team. They also learn the
importance of legislation.

IMPACT is a non-contractual benefits programme where you are


able to create a reward package specific to your needs via salary
sacrifice agreements. From the IMPACT website, you are also able
to access your contractual benefits. Here is a reminder of what
they are:

Employee Assistance Programme - this service is


designed to help you deal with lifes challenges, whether they are
personal or work-related. Weve arranged for you to have access
to a confidential service to help make life easier for you when
an unexpected problem crops up or life changes occur.

Group Life Assurance - you are entitled to Life Assurance


cover of 2 x basic salary. This benefit is payable to a named
beneficiary(ies) in the event of your death whilst in the service
of the company.You will have provided your beneficiaries by
completing the beneficiary section on the employee details form
provided with your contract. Should your circumstances change
and you wish to update your beneficiaries you can download a
form from the IMPACT website.

Whilst the IMPACT website is available for you to log onto at


anytime, from anywhere, you will have limited options until you
complete six months service, however, you are able to apply for
childcare vouchers or sign up for Give As You Earn beforehand.

Annual leave - if you are in full-time employment you will


receive 23 days holiday a year, in addition to public holidays. If you
work on a part-time basis or commence employment part-way
through the holiday year, your annual leave will be pro-rata. Our
holiday year runs from January to December.
Birthday off - we believe that birthdays are special and want
you to enjoy yours doing whatever you want to do. Thats why
youre not required to attend work on your birthday but still
receive your normal full basic payment. Should your birthday fall
on a weekend or public holiday, you may take the next available
working day before or after your birthday.
Pension - you have immediate access to join a pension scheme
and the company will start to match your contributions (to a
maximum of 3%) after you have successfully completed your
probationary period.
Lifestyle Benefits - provides you and your family with a
range of additional services including discount on everyday
purchases, savings on holidays and weekend breaks, and special
offers on great family days out.

Once you have completed six months service, you will get to
start shaping your reward package.Your benefit selections will be
locked until the annual enrolment (normally March) when you
will have the option to either exchange the selected benefits back
into cash or for an alternative selection of benefits which suit
your needs and desires for the coming year.
