Lambda(Micropipetting)
For the Lambda lab we had to use a micropipette for gel electrophoresis. MIcropipetting was was
a skill I struggled to perfect since I couldnt keep my hands steady enough and ended up unable
to put the the primer in the right place. This was a major issue since this was the initial step for
the lab. However I did not give up until I mastered this skill. I spent all the time I could in class
practicing. I even came in after class and tutorial to keep practicing, and I eventually mastered it.
When it came to the actual lab, I was able to easily do it due to all the practice I had put in.
Fast Plants:
During the fast plants lab I took initiative and leadership to ensure the success of our experiment.
During this lab, I decided that each person in our group should be responsible for planting each
quad, so it would go faster. I managed to plant my quad first, and I quickly went and helped the
other people in my group so they could finish. Our group ended up being the first group to have
all the plants finished planting and ready to go. I made sure to watch after and monitor the
growth of the plants outside of class. When the time came to collect data, our group was one of
the most successful, since we had the most plants produced, and we had the correct ratio of plant
types. A lot of the other groups even referenced our data during their lab writeup. The lab essay
for this lab was one of the most challenging, and I managed to do pretty well, due to my
involvement during the lab.
Animal Behaviour(PillBugs)
During this lab we had to design an experiment to test the reactions of pillbugs to a certain
stimuli. I lead the group in brainstorming what stimuli we would test for and how we should do
it. I took the task of researching different variables that pillbugs react to and various experiments
outside of class. The next day in class we had decided to test pillbugs reaction to dark and light
and with the research I had done were able to create a way to test it. As a group we were well
prepared and our experiment went well and we were one of the first groups to finish.

Transpiration Lab
This lab did not go as planned, since we didnt properly follow procedure. As a result our data
came out extremely inaccurate. The rest of the group was panicking, and had no idea what to do.
However I calmly stepped in and led them to figure out a way to do well on the lab. We used the
incorrect data we had obtained and brainstormed possible sources of error and how we would do
calculations. Since I was able to stop my group from panicking even more and helped them think
calmly, we were able to salvage the lab report and got a good grade on it.
