electronic version of the book is included with the WileyPlus account, thus a hard-copy is
optional.
Calculator:
A scientific calculator is optional (eg., TI 30XS, TI-83, TI-84). Any calculator that is
programmable, or is capable of graphing or symbolic analysis is NOT allowed (e.g. TI-89, TI92, etc.) You will not be allowed to use your cell phone, tablet, etc as your calculator.
Sharing calculators is prohibited and unacceptable during exams.
Online:
An account with WileyPlus is required (see below for details).
Prerequisites:
content of Math 150B or equivalent. Must be enrolled concurrently in Physics 226L.
Commitment:
CSUF NSM recommends study time commitment of two hours of outside preparation for
each one hour in class, per week (cf http://nsm.fullerton.edu/student-resources/study-25-35empowerment-campaign/empowerment-campaign) You must work hard in order to
succeed. Careful consideration of time and work commitment is strongly advised.
GRADING: Your grade will be based on exams and homework.

Oct 3 Last day the Math Department will be flexible on the approval of late withdrawal requests.
Beginning Oct 6, students must document a serious and compelling reason.
Nov 14 Last day to drop with a W for serious and compelling reason
Dec 16 Final Exam 12:00 pm 1:50 pm
DROP POLICY:
If a student is absent without notifying the instructor or departmental office within 24 hours after any meeting
missed during the first week, the student may be dropped administratively by the instructor. Students should
not assume that this will be done for them and should take the responsibility to ensure that they have been
dropped, by following the appropriate procedures for dropping classes.

GENERAL INFORMATION
EXAMS: There will be two mid-term exams. There will also be a comprehensive final exam.

You will need to turn in three (3) UNMARKED 100 question SCANTRON forms (882-ES only) to class for the
exams by the end of the second week of classes, Friday, September 5. Do NOT purchase ACCUSCAN sold in
the bookstore. Your name will be checked off when you turn them in, and you cannot take an exam until you
turn in your scantrons .

HOMEWORK: Online Homework will be assigned.

Online entry of Solutions. To do homework, you must have an account with WileyPlus. Homework assigned
for a given class should be completed before the next class. If you have questions or get stuck, send me email.
Deadlines for online entry of Solutions are posted online and homework can be done at any computer with
internet access. Even if you cant finish, I highly suggest that you do as much of the assignment as possible.
Math is not a spectator sport!
o Homework can be done at any computer with internet access, including the computers in the campus
computer labs.

No late homework will be accepted. No Excuses!

Quizzes: Quizzes will be given online via WileyPlus.
MAKE-UP POLICY/ABSENCES: There are no make-up quizzes, exams, homework, or extra credits. If you have a
reasonable excuse for missing an exam (I decide what is reasonable), the percentage you get on the final exam will
count as the percentage for the missed exam. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain any missed class
materials from another student.
ONLINE: For online homework, quizzes and grades, go to www.wileyplus.com
To register:
See the sign-up sheet posted for this class on Titanium.
You will also need to purchase a student access code either online (requires a major credit card) or at the
student bookstore (cash is ok).
A valid email address. Certain help features do not function with an invalid email address.
You will have an electronic version of the course textbook with your purchase. If you plan to purchase a new hard-copy
version of the course textbook, get one with a student access code.

IMPORTANT:
You must register immediately to begin doing the homework. You can get a temporary account for free if you
cant pay immediately.
You must register with a paid account by the end of the second week. I will not accept online enrollments
after Friday, September 5. If you do not convert a temporary account to a paid, full-access account by that time,
you will not be able to do nor receive credit for homework.

CLASS BEHAVIOR: Please be considerate of other students in the class. This includes being self-conscious of
excessive talking with your peers and cell phone usage, which is inclusive of texting.
In class, all electronic equipment (cell phones, laptops, tablets, Kindle/Readers, etc.) will be silenced, remain
off your desks, and out of sight. Anyone who is using any such device for ANY reason during class (even as a
calculator, or if on your desk and "off") will have 10 points deducted from their overall total points. Also, all
headsets and earphones must be removed during class and all purses, computers, or other such items not
relevant to class must be stored underneath your desk. Any exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: Students who violate university standards of academic integrity are subject to
disciplinary sanctions, including failure in the course and suspension from the university. Since dishonesty in
any form harms the individual, other students, and the university, policies on academic integrity are strictly
enforced. Examples of academic dishonesty include, but are not limited to: (1) copying from another students
homework, quiz, or exam; (2) allowing another student to copy your work; and (3) copying homework
solutions from the text solutions manual. You should familiarize yourself with the academic integrity
guidelines found in the current student handbook.

ACCOMODATIONS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS: The University requires students with disabilities to register with the
Office of Disabled Student Services (DSS), located in UH-101 and at (714) 278 3112, in order to receive
prescribed accommodations appropriate to their disability. Students requesting accommodations should
inform the instructor during the first week of classes about any disability or special needs that may require
specific arrangements or accommodations related to attending class sessions, completing course assignments,
writing papers or quizzes, tests, or examinations.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: In the event of an emergency such as earthquake or fire:

Take all your personal belongings and leave the classroom (or lab). Use the stairways located at the east, west,
or center of the building.
Do not use an elevator. They may not be working once the alarm sounds.
Go to the lawn area towards Nutwood Avenue. Stay with class members for further instruction.
For additional information on exits, fire alarms and telephones, Building Evacuation Maps are located near each
elevator.
Anyone who may have difficulty evacuating the building, please see the instructor.

This syllabus is subject to change at any time.
