T he Magi worshipped a
simple Child in the arms
of his Mother Mary, because
in him they recognized the
source of the twofold light
that had guided them: the
light of the star and the light
of the Scriptures. In him they recognized the King of
the Jews, the glory of Israel, but also the King of all the
peoples.
The mystery of the Church and her missionary di-
mension are also revealed in the liturgical context of
the Epiphany. She is called to make Christ's light shine
in the world, reflecting it in herself as the moon reflects
the light of the sun.
The ancient prophecies concerning the holy city of
Jerusalem, such as the marvelous one in Isaiah ... "Rise
up in splendor! Your light has come.... Nations shall
walk by your light, and kings by your shining radi-
ance" (Is 60: 1-3), have found fulfillment in the
Church.
This is what disciples of Christ must do: trained by
him to live in the way of the Beatitudes, they must at-
tract all people to God through a witness of love: "In
the same way, your light must shine before men so that
they may see goodness in your deeds and give praise to
your heavenly Father" (Mt 5: 16). By listening to Jesus'
words, we members of the Church cannot but become
aware of the total inadequacy of our human condition,
marked by sin.
The Church is holy, but made up of men and
women with their limitations and errors. It is Christ,
Christ alone, who in giving us the Holy Spirit is able to
transform our misery and constantly renew us. He is
the light of the peoples, the lumen gentium, who has
chosen to illumine the world through his Church.
"How can this come about?", we also ask ourselves
with the words that the Virgin addresses to the Archan-
gel Gabriel. And she herself, the Mother of Christ and
of the Church, gives us the answer: with her example
of total availability to God's will - "fiat mihi secundum
verbum tuum" (Lk 1: 38) - she teaches us to be a
"manifestation" of the Lord, opening our hearts to the
power of grace and faithfully abiding by the words of
her Son, light of the world and the ultimate end of his-
tory. So be it!

HOLY INNOCENTS GIRLS CLUB
Following our successful
Summer Camp for Kids at
Holy Innocents, we now
announce something spe-
cial for girls between the
ages of 10 to 14 years:
HOLY INNOCENTS GIRLS CLUB.
Meetings will be every third Saturday from
9:30 to 11:30 AM, at Holy Innocents Church.
Lots of fun activities, classes on manual arts,
sewing, cooking and manners. The cost per girl
for the entire 9 months is only $10. For more
information, please inquire at the parish office.
COMMUNION ON THE TONGUE
VATICAN CITY- Benedict XVI would prefer to dis-
tribute communion on the tongue and to people who
are kneeling, according to the master of papal liturgical
ceremonies. "It is necessary not to forget," he added,
"that the distribution of Communion on the hand contin-
ues to remain, from the juridical standpoint, an excep-
tion (indult) to the universal law, conceded by the Holy
See to those bishops' conferences who have requested
it."
"The form used by Benedict XVI tends to underline the
force of the valid norm for the entire Church," clarified
Monsignor Marini. The master of papal liturgical cere-
monies said receiving Communion on the tongue,
"without taking anything away from the other
[form], better highlights the truth of the real pres-
ence in the Eucharist, helps the devotion of the faith-
ful, and introduces more easily the sense of mystery.
Aspects which, in our times, pastorally speaking, it is
urgent to highlight and recover."

LA EXPLICACIÓN DEL PAPA BAUTIZOS DE INFANTES, GRATIS
L os Magos adoraron
a un simple Niño
en brazos de su Madre
María, porque en él
reconocieron el
manantial de la doble
luz que los había
guiado: la luz de la
estrella y la luz de las
Escrituras.
Reconocieron en él al Rey de los judíos, gloria de Israel,
pero también al Rey de todas las naciones.
En el contexto litúrgico de la Epifanía se manifiesta
también el misterio de la Iglesia y su dimensión
misionera. La Iglesia está llamada a hacer que en el
mundo resplandezca la luz de Cristo, reflejándola en sí
misma como la luna refleja la luz del sol.
En la Iglesia se han cumplido las antiguas profecías
referidas a la ciudad santa de Jerusalén, como la
estupenda profecía de Isaías que acabamos de escuchar:
"¡Levántate, brilla, Jerusalén, que llega tu luz. (...)
Caminarán los pueblos a tu luz; los reyes al resplandor de
tu aurora" (Is 60, 1-3).
Esto lo deberán realizar los discípulos de Cristo:
después de aprender de él a vivir según el estilo de las
Bienaventuranzas, deberán atraer a todos los hombres
hacia Dios mediante el testimonio del amor: "Alumbre así
vuestra luz a los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas
obras y den gloria a vuestro Padre que está en el
cielo" (Mt 5, 16).
Al escuchar estas palabras de Jesús, nosotros, los
miembros de la Iglesia, no podemos por menos de notar
toda la insuficiencia de nuestra condición humana,
marcada por el pecado. La Iglesia es santa, pero está
formada por hombres y mujeres con sus límites y sus
errores. Es Cristo, sólo él, quien donándonos el Espíritu
Santo puede transformar nuestra miseria y renovarnos
constantemente. Él es la luz de las naciones, lumen
gentium, que quiso iluminar el mundo mediante su
Iglesia.
"¿Cómo sucederá eso?", nos preguntamos también
nosotros con las palabras que la Virgen dirigió al arcángel
Gabriel. Precisamente ella, la Madre de Cristo y de la
Iglesia, nos da la respuesta: con su ejemplo de total
disponibilidad a la voluntad de Dios —"fiat mihi
secundum verbum tuum" (Lc 1, 38)—. Ella nos enseña a
ser "epifanía" del Señor con la apertura del corazón a la
fuerza de la gracia y con la adhesión fiel a la palabra de su
Hijo, luz del mundo y meta final de la historia. Así sea.

Aquí en los Santos Inocentes nosotros bautizamos los infantes y
niños pequeños los sábados en español.
Y con el fin de motivar a los padres católicos a bautizar a sus hijos
cuanto antes después del nacimiento, no se pedirá ningún donativo
para los bebés que tienen sólo un mes o menos.
Los padres tienen obligación de hacer que los hijos sean bautizados
en las primeras semanas; lo más pronto después del nacimiento …

CLUB PARA CHICAS
Invitamos a las jovencitas de la parroquia de las
edades de 10 a 14 años a formar parte de nuestro
CLUB para chicas. Las reuniones serán cada
tercer sábado del mes de 9:30am a
11:30am y seguirán reuniéndose hasta
el mes de mayo. Aprenderán artes
manuales, a cocinar, coser, modales y
reglas de urbanidad, y charlas de fe. El
costo por los nueve meses será solo
$10 dólares. Para mas información

Puede ser que el templo se mira como
un templo Católico o que tienen allí
una imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe o
de otros Santos Católicos. También
puede ser que el llamado ‘Padre’ se viste
como sacerdote y que allí dan ‘Misas’.
Nada de esto garantiza que son
Católicos verdaderos en comunión con
el Papa Benedicto.
Tristemente, hay un numero creciente
de sectas nuevas que insisten que son 'Católicas' pero
rechazan la autoridad del Papa y las demás doctrinas
Católicas. Engañan a la gente no instruida que va en busca de
los Sacramentos de la Iglesia. Muchas de estas sectas son
‘negocios’ más que nada y así se están aprovechando de la
gente crédula. Los señores encargados de aquellas sectas,
aunque se visten de ‘Padres,’ no están interesados en la
salvación del alma.
¡Cuidado con aquellas sectas! Y anote bien: un Católico
debe asistir a Misa y recibir los Sacramentos solamente en
una parroquia ‘registrada’ con la Iglesia Católica, Apostólica
y Romana. Si no, los llamados ‘Sacramentos’ recibidos no
son lícitos en los ojos de la Iglesia Católica, Apostólica y
Romana.
