Tech Notes
Version 4.65 of the Proxicast IPSec VPN Client software for Windows is now
available. Version 4.65 is a free upgrade to existing Proxicast IPSec VPN Client customers Support Bulletins
who are currently under software maintenance. A fully-functional 30-day free trial version is Software Updates
available on the Proxicast web site

To upgrade, simply download the latest version from the Proxicast web site:
http://www.proxicast.com/vpnclient/VPN_Client_Download.htm and install over your existing
VPN Client software version. You will be asked to restart your PC and reactivate the
software once the upgrade is complete.

Lightning Strikes

Periodically, we receive word from customers that their LAN-Cell (or other equipment) has
been damaged by lightning, either through a direct hit to the antenna or via feedback
through the power circuit. We encourage all customers to install properly grounded lightning
arrestors in-line with any outside mounted antennas.  Proxicast offers several excellent
coaxial lightning arrestors in our online store http://www.proxicast.com/shopping/index.php?
target=categories&category_id=185.

Proper surge protection and power conditioning are also crucial to protect the LAN-Cell and
other equipment from excessive current and/or voltage swings during electrical
disturbances.  A good quality UPS and surge suppressor should be used to isolate the LAN-
Cell from AC power sources.  If the LAN-Cell is being powered from a DC power source, an

isolating power conditioner such as the interVOLT can be used
