3. DRAWING INDEX & TYPE

3.1

Drawing Index
A single letter alpha character represents the discipline of the drawings. Standard drawing
AE-036411 sheet 001 lists the approved drawing indices with descriptions.

3.2

Drawing Type
3.2.1

The Drawing Type is a three alphabetical character code located at the far right
end of line 1. This code is utilized to identify specific groups of drawings under a
specific INDEX.

3.2.2

Code description may be used to develop line-1 of drawing title. Title is not
required to match the exact wording but must indicate the contents of the
drawing. However, the title selected must match the drawing index and drawing
type code, to the extent possible.

For Drawing Type (MS Excel) refer: http://edsd.aramco.com.sa/dm/IndxType.xls

4. DRAWING NUMBERS & RELATED

4.1

Drawing Number (alpha/numeric)

The Drawing Number provides one part of the "unique" identification code for each
Engineering Drawing. It comprises a single character Prefix Letter, a single character
Sheet Size Code, and a six (6) character Identifying Number.

4.1.1

Typical Drawing Number

Example: DB -765432

4.1.2

Prefix Letter (alpha)

4.1.2.1

The following Prefix Letters are currently being assigned by EDSD for
use as part of the drawing number.

4.1.2.2

Standard Drawings only.

Library Drawings only.

Southern Area (Eastern Arabia).

Central Area (Eastern Arabia).

Northern Area (Eastern Arabia).

(Central and Western Arabia).

The following prefix letters appear on some Engineering Drawings

but are no longer used on new drawing production. However new
sheets to the existing drawings may be added.

Aramco San Francisco or New York, AOC at Rome or

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

SOCAL

SCECO

Aramco Overseas Company, Beirut.

AOC, The Hague assigned drawing number.

ASC, Houston assigned drawing number.

Dhahran assigned drawing numbers (except for Library

Drawings).

4.1.3

Sheet Size Code (alpha)

The Sheet Size Code is a single alpha character used to identify the drawing size.
It does not make up part of the "unique" drawing identification number since this
code can change depending upon the present size of the drawing.

Note:

The Sheet Size Code must always agree with the actual size of the
drawing form. It can be changed but requires a formal revision and
should be noted in the description column of the block.

Refer to item 3.1 for proper dimensions.

4.1.4

Identifying Number
The Identifying Number is a six (6) character numeric code. All digits from 0 to 9
can be used. All six characters must be continuous with no comma separation. A
dash will be used to separate the identifying number from the prefix letter and
drawing size (e.g. HA-123456).

4.2

Sheet Number
The Sheet Number is a three (3) digit number ranging from 001 to 999.

Most Engineering Drawings of the same Drawing Type are grouped in 'sets' of drawings
using the same Drawing Number with multiple sheets. Example: P&ID, ILD, and One Line
Diagrams. When 'sets' are used then the Sheet Number provides part of the "unique"
identifier for the drawing.
Restrictions governing the use of Sheet Numbers for 'sets' are as follows:

4.2.1

All drawings that form part of a 'set' within the same Drawing Number must have

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

the same size. If a drawing size changes then it must be either cancelled from
the set and given a new Drawing Number or size of all the other sheets be
changed.

4.2.2

Sheet SETS must be made for a common engineering subject, the subject may
be: Design, Process or Service within a specific engineering discipline.

Examples:
DESIGN

Plot Plans
Structural Details
Equipment Layouts
Hazardous Area Classifications

PROCESS

Process Flow Diagrams

Piping and Instrument Diagrams
Valve Operating Diagrams

SERVICE

Piping Isometrics of Same Product

(e.g. Air, Steam, Fuel Gas, etc.)
Electrical Drawings
(e.g. One Line Diagram, Connection Diagram, Elementary
Diagram., Electrical Layout etc.)
Instrument Points and Lines

4.2.3

All sheets in one set must be numbered sequentially without number gaps for
'Unused' sheets. If gaps are unavoidable, then a face sheet may be utilized to
indicate "spare" in lieu of the unused sheet number.

4.2.4

A set of pre-numbered sheets pertaining to one piece of equipment (e.g.

Instrument Specification Sheets or Equipment Data Sheets etc.), shall make up
one drawing set.

4.2.5

Drawing and sheet numbers for Instrument Loop Diagrams, Instrument

Installation Schedules, Cable & Conduit Schedules and Pipe Line Designation
Tables must be requested from EDSD separately, by using the appropriate
request form in each case.

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

4.2.6

Face Sheets may be provided for all size drawing sets having the same Drawing
Numbers and more than ten sheets.

They are mandatory for Instrument

Installation Schedules, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Cable & Conduit schedules,

Line Designation Tables and existing drawing sets that contain sheets with
alpha/numeric sheet numbers. The Face Sheet must list all sheets in the set and
their titles. For Instrument Loop Diagrams, it shall also show the loop numbers
for each sheet.

4.2.6.1

The first Face Sheet is numbered FS1. The subsequent Face sheets
will be designated as FS2, FS3,...FS9.

4.2.6.2

When required to be revised, Face Sheets shall only have full

numeric revision numbers (i.e. 01, 02, etc.).

4.2.7

Numbering sequences containing alpha characters are unacceptable except

Face/Index sheet (FS1 to FS9).

4.2.8

Sets developed for Instrument Installation Schedules should be limited to a

particular category of instruments within a plant.

4.2.9

The titles of individual sheets within a set may vary slightly, if so required for
clarification and definition of location.

However, the Drawing Size, Plant

Numbers, Index and Plant Title must be the same on all sheets.

4.2.10

Drawing sets in Bulk documents such as Scopes of Work and other such
documents constituting a coherent set, shall be assigned one Drawing Number
with multiple sheet numbers. Only sheet 001 in the set shall show the total
number of sheets and is listed in DMS for reference as such.

4.2.11

All sheets in one drawing must be generated using the same drawing media and
format. That is, either all CADD (Microstation) or all MS Excel or all MS Word.

4.2.12

New sheets generated as part of an existing drawing must also be on the same
drawing media and format.

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

Note:

Existing drawings bearing alpha/numeric sheet identification should

be corrected by the REO before the drawing is resubmitted with
revision information.

All reference drawings must be similarly

corrected.

4.2.13

Cover sheets or title sheets of a drawing or project should not be assigned

Engineering Drawing number.

4.3

Revision Number
4.3.1

The Revision Number is composed of one to three-character (the first two

numeric and the third alpha code), used to identify the latest approved revision
on a drawing. The Revision Number is all numeric (two characters) when all
contents of a drawing reflect a total "As-Built" condition, and numerical/alpha
(three characters) when it is a partial modification or a partial "As-Built".

4.3.2

The first certified and approved issue of a new drawing must bear revision '00'.
Full names of signatories must appear in the main title block.

If required "ISSUED FOR CONSTRUCTION" description may be added in the

bottom line of the revision block as Revision 00. Names of the signatories of
Revision 00 (IFC) are optional in the revision block.

4.3.3

When a drawing is checked out for revision purposes, the EDSD assigns the
appropriate revision number to the REO depending on the type of revision
requested. The REO must use the revision number assigned to the existing
drawings for a particular project (Job Order or EWO) for the same. Revision
numbers to the existing drawing shall not be assigned for Budget Item (BI) or
Project Proposals.

4.3.4

When the REO wants to immediately add another revision for some other
project, the current revision must be submitted to the DMS before modifying the
drawing for the other project, and simultaneously, request the drawings for
revision.

4.3.5

Based on the information supplied by the REO when requesting a drawing for
Page 18 of 87

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

revision or design modification using form SA 8134-ENG, EDSD will determine

the level of revision that would satisfy REO's9 requirements, on the following
basis:

For Normal Modification

If a new design, design change or partial "As-Built" being applied to an existing
drawing. A numeric/alpha revision number will be issued.

For Full "As-Built"

If a new or existing drawing being brought to a 100% field verified As-Built
condition, a whole numeric revision number will be issued.

4.3.6

Releasing drawings for revision requires the concurrence of the Operations

Engineering for all the existing facilities. The project management and design
groups engineers must acquire the concurrence of the Operations Engineering
before submitting their drawing requests to EDSD.

Note:

Grass-roots LSTK project new drawings may be made as-built (Rev.

01) without submitting initial Revision (00) to the EDSD. Main title
block and Revision description for as built revision must be
completed.

4.3.7

If two or more modifications, for different job numbers, are to be made on a

drawing due to: As-Built, Design change, etc., each modification must be
individually recorded and archived with a separate revision number for each job.

4.4

Drawing Index Letters

4.4.1

Drawing Index Letters are single alpha characters in the range of A to Z (except I
and O).

4.4.2

Index Letters are shown on Engineering Drawings in the title block. A Maximum of
two index letters are acceptable on a drawing, arranged by order of importance
(not necessarily in alphabetic sequence).

4.4.3

Drawings shall be coded by Index letter to properly identify each drawing type.

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

Drawing types shall not be mixed. Each drawing must contain information related

Cloud and crosshatch the areas to be removed.

9.3.5

Describe in the revision block against the issued revision.

9.3.6

Submit the drawing to EDSD along with other drawings of the project.
Note: For further design, obtain a new revision per procedure.

9.4

Designating Emergency Drawings

Saudi Aramco Plant Managers are responsible for designating and constantly reviewing
Engineering Drawings related to their plants and/or area of operation as Emergency
Drawings. Ensuring that all drawings are properly stamped for quick identification. Only
those drawings deemed necessary to support operations during a disaster situation should
be designated as EMERGENCY DRAWINGS.

9.5

As-Built Drawing
Any approved and certified "key" drawing and any other drawing designated by the
Operations Engineering and/or the Project Management Team, must be updated to reflect
the 'as-built' condition. In addition Pile Driving records, Foundations, and drawings with
significant changes must be updated to as-built condition. Additions or changes to a
drawing resulting from facility modification must also be verified as 'As-Built' and
referenced to the secondary job order/EWO.

9.5.1

"As-Built"
When a drawing is certified as 100% as-built with no change.

9.5.2

"Revised As-Built"
When a drawing is modified to be brought to a 100% as-built condition.

9.5.3

All as-built' efforts are processed in the same manner as normal drawing
revisions.

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

9.5.4

The engineering organization for the plant or facility is the responsible for
overseeing that the "KEY" drawings are kept current and all modifications (as
built) are gathered and incorporated into one engineering drawing to achieve a
"full revision". The full revision must then bear the next sequential revision
designation (issued through DMS), and then, submit to EDSD for archival per
SAEP-334.

9.5.5

Revisions to non-certified drawings are considered developmental. Once it is

determined that the drawing will be issued for construction, REO must be sure
that developmental revision alpha characters (i.e. A, B, C, D, etc) are erased
from the drawing revision block prior to approval and submittal to EDSD.

9.5.6

The drawings can be issued for construction with holds (clouded areas). All IFC
drawings must be certified.

11. CADD STANDARDS

11.1

GENERAL CADD STANDARDS

Saudi Aramco has developed its CADD standards to provide total design control through
the graphics terminal. These standards utilize Micro-Station's level structure design. All
Saudi Aramco CADD engineering design files have other files associated with them. These
include a cell library, color table, and reference file (form or border). The design files use
logical names to point to these associated files (one of the reasons why you must use
Saudi Aramco seed files) and follow the Saudi Aramco CADD standards (working units,
grid display and locks).

11.1.1

File Naming Convention

A Saudi Aramco drawing is identified by a three part name; the drawing number, sheet
number and revision number. See Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual for a description of these
parts.

All CADD files are identified by a two part identity; the file name and file extension.

The Saudi Aramco drawing number is in the format of AA-NNNNNN where "A" corresponds
to an alphabetic character and "N" corresponds to numeric character. The file name will be
exactly the same except that the "-" is dropped.

The sheet number corresponds directly to the file extension but must be right justified and
packed with zeroes to create a three character sheet number.

11.1.1.1

VECTOR FILES
Vector file is identified by a two part identity which corresponds with the
drawing number as the file name and the file extension as the sheet number.
The file name takes the following format.

11.1.1.2

RASTER FILES
Raster File is identified by two parts identity which corresponds with the
drawing number as the file name, and the file extension as the sheet number.

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

Due to the limitation on number of characters available for PC DOS file name,
the second alpha character in the drawing number is dropped. This alpha
represents the size of the drawing which can be determined from the
associated vector file or hard copy print of the drawing. Another character in
the filename as 't' for tg4, tif or 'c' for cit is used to identify the raster format
type.

11.1.1.3

DMS DELIVERED FILES

Files extracted from the Saudi Aramco Drawing Management System (DMS)
are delivered with eight (8) character numeric number and extension as dgn for
Vector files and tg4 , cit or tif for Raster files as file name. The DMS generates
a reference report to identify the corresponding drawing number for each file
name.

11.1.2

Working Units
All CADD drawings must be in metric. The following CADD Working Units must be used for
all products unless otherwise stated.

1 METER
100 CM
1000 PU

42,949 X 42,949 SQ METERS WORKING AREA

GU = : .1
UR = : .05
GR = 10

11.1.2.1

Definition
Working units are a means of relating the system's internal measurement of
units of resolution (UORs) to measurable working units (meters, centimeters,
etc) to meet the needs of the design file. Working units are the coordinate
units corresponding to the position and definition of a point in the design file.
The working unit dictates the degree of accuracy for placement of elements in
a drawing and determines the scale relationship of elements in the design file.

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

11.1.2.2

Format
Working units, usually referred to as MU:SU:PU, take the following format:

MU

Master unit of measurement

SU

Subunit, a division of a master unit

PU

Positional unit, representing the smallest degree of accuracy that

is possible in your design.

The system's UORs has a working area of 4,294,967,296 units of resolution in

both X & Y direction with working units of 1MU:1SU:1PU. To take advantage
of this large area and have detailed high resolution, 1000 PU is used as the
smallest unit of resolution. Since meters have been chosen as the Master
units and centimeters is a division of meters, 100 cm is used as the subunits.
This gives working units of 1M:100CM:1000PU and a working area of 42,949
X 42,949 meters

11.1.2.3

Grid Arrangement
A grid display can be assigned to these working units to be used as a design
aid. This grid display functions much like grid paper does in manual design. A
grid unit is the value for the distance between the grid dots on the screen. The
value of GU=: .1 relates to 1 mm. Hence, dot to dot relates to one millimeter.
The value of the Grid Reference is a quantity of grid dots. How many grid dots
between grid cross. The value of GR=10 gives 10 dots per cross. Henc e,
cross to cross relates to one centimeter. A unit round-off value is applied to
the unit lock. It specifies points in the design plane that can be located when
the unit lock is active. The unit lock forces data points to the nearest unit
round-off point. A value of UR=: .05 allows points to lie one-half the distance
between the grid marks.

These CADD Unit configurations were chosen for the following reasons:

a)

They are recommended CADD INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

PROCEDURES

Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

b)

Grid display is a one to one ratio;

dot-to-dot is one MM
cross-to-cross is one CM.

c)

Key-ins are in simplest form. M:CM.MM

d)

All types of pen plotters will be able to plot in detailed high

resolution. Circles will be plotted as circles and not line segments.

11.1.3

Product Seed Files

The Saudi Aramco product seed files have been set up to maximize CADD productivity.
These files contain the title block information using title block program in SACS 2.5.1, have
the required displays, working units, view orientation, and locks. Each product seed file has
the product's cell library, color table, and form (border) already attached. The product seed
files use the following save view names (VI=) for easy design file display.

TB

Saudi Aramco Forms (Borders)

EDSD have made and will continue to make updates to forms (borders) of Saudi Aramco
engineering drawings. Old borders are not available on SACS 2.5.1, thus, updating of "old"
CADD drawings are required. SACS 2.5.1 uses an automate text elements in the title block.
The old borders do not match the text element location on the title block program. In order
to provide this requirement and maintain borders as reference files, unique names will be
used for updated Saudi Aramco CADD borders. see SACS FORMS, SEED FILES AND
BORDERS TABLE (http://edsd.aramco.com.sa/dm/Attach/11.1/CADD_111S.html)

The following naming scheme will be used for reference files:

Level Structures (LV)

The design area of a CADD design file is composed of 63 identically sized, overlayed
planes. These overlays or levels are used in the Saudi Aramco standards to separate
equipment, types of lines and other drawing details to enable CADD to be a more
productive tool.

A level structure table is given for each product Attachment "A"

within

the

product

standards).

11.1.6

Color Codes (CO)

Saudi Aramco CADD standards use a special color table (SACOLOR.TBL) and not the
default color table provided by MicroStation. In order to specify an active color code, the
CO = N, where 'N' is the color code number, must be used.

Line Codes (LC)

MicroStation provides eight linear patterns called line codes (See Attachment 'C')

These line codes

have been used in the Saudi Aramco CADD Standards. However, some of the patterns
required for the Saudi Aramco CADD Standards are not provided by these line codes

11.1.8.1

Electrical Lines:
This is a solid line with two parallel 45 slash marks ("//") every 20 mm. The
length of the line to the first slash mark is 19 mm. The distance between the
slashes is 1 mm and the length of each slash is 2.828 mm. If the distance of
the required line is less than 40 mm, then a single set of parallel slashes is
placed in the center of the line.

Revision Date: Mar 09, 2003

11.1.8.2

Capillary Tube:
This is a solid line with two 45 crossing slash marks ("X") every 19 mm. The
length of each slash is 2.828 mm. If the distance of the required line is less
than 40 mm, then a single set of crossing slashes is placed in the center of the
line.

11.1.8.3

Match Lines:
This is a combination of a long solid line followed by two short solid lines and
then another long line. The length of the long line is 38 mm. Each short line
has a length of 3 mm. All gaps between the line are also 3 mm. If the distance
of the required line is less than 100 mm, then a single set of two short lines is
placed in the center of the line.

11.1.8.4

Computer Link:
This is a combination of solid lines and circles. The length of each line is 3
mm. The gap between the line and circle is 1 mm. The diameter of the circle
is 1 mm. If the distance of the required line is less than 10 mm, then only a
solid line should be drawn.

11.1.8.5

Computer Cable:
This is a combination of long and short solid lines. The length of the long line
is 3 mm. The gap between the long line and short line is 1 mm. The length of
the shorter line is 1 mm. If the distance of the required line is less than 10 mm,
then only a solid line should be drawn.

11.1.8.6

VOD LINES:
All VOD lines are composed of line segments and text.

shows

actual size plot of all those lines.

11.1.9

Fonts
All Saudi Aramco CADD engineering drawing must use FT=61 as the font style when
placing text within the design file.

Stacked fractions are provided in this font library

(FONT61.CEL) for numbers less than a whole number (ex: 21/16 == 1 5/16). The fractions
Page 53 of 87

provided are for halves, quarters, eighths, sixteenths, thirty-seconds and sixty-fourths (i.e.
1/2, 1/4, 3/4, 1/8, 3/8,....,59/64). The Intergraph system does not provide stacked fractions
for thirds, so two of the above fractions have been renamed to provide this data. To get
thirds as a stacked fraction; the fraction 63/64 must be entered to obtain 1/3 and the
fraction 61/64 must be entered to provide the stacked fraction 2/3. All other fractions will
provide the required stacked fraction as entered. Special characters are symbols that do
not exist on the keyboard but are needed in drawings.

Certain keys have been

programmed to display these special characters when they are keyed in and placed as text.
The following keys produce these special characters.

11.1.10

Environment Variables (Logical Names)

Saudi Aramco CADD Standard use environment variables for attachment of reference files.
This allows Saudi Aramco files to become platform independent.

For that reason the

following environment variable must be defined and used for border attachment.

PID

environment variable points to the PID product directory

PFD

environment variable points to the PFD product directory

ILD

11.1.13

Title Block Data Entry (SACS 2.5.1 only)

Saudi Aramco Drawing Title Block Automation is a system designed to generate text box
information within Engineering Drawing Files. The same information is also written into the
Design File within an element that is normally hidden to the user. It can validate whether
the Title Block information contained within each Design File contains errors, and report
them when detected. This system, which becomes a component of Saudi Aramco CADD
Standards (SACS) version 2.5, comprises three modules, namely: Data Entry/Edit,
Validation and Reporting.

11.1.13.1

Data Entry/Edit Module (Title Block)

Data Entry/Edit Module is developed using MicroStation Development
Language (MDL) and runs only on MicroStation SE & J graphic environment.

It is initiated from the SACS in the MicroStation menu bar or key-in

load mdl tba.

Click Title Block and a dialog box appears which contains fields for
each text entry for information required in the Title Block of the

engineering drawing design file.

The fields on the dialog box comprise a combination of those that

require the user to select from a predefi ned list of options, while others
allow him to enter data..

Dialog box may be used either for New Design File or Revised Design
File.

Always attach new border (latest version) in the design file. Old
borders are not accepted in SACS version

For revised drawings, first fill in all the fields in the dialog box and
before you hit process delete (using MicroStation command) all title
block fields in the drawing including the upper left corner then hit
process.

The information at the upper left corner is copied as soon as the

Process button is press or hit.

Whenever any data is entered or modified, the relationship between

the text entries is queried and an error output is generated if the
predefine rules of relationship was violated.

When all the entries made are correct, the user presses the button
Process. The Drawing Title Block is updated with the information
entered in the dialog box.

By default, the Title Block text elements are locked to prevent from
being accidentally edited. It can be unlocked for editing.

the hidden elements and design file elements. An Alert box will be
displayed Data mismatch detected, click OK to Fix or Cancel to
Ignore. Fix will continue the process, while Ignore

will exit from

MicroStation.

When the user selects FIX , two windows will appear on the screen.
The first one on the left is used to add/edit elements in the title block
which reads from the hidden element. The second window will be a
static dialog reading from the design file element without the
capability to change any field. It is for reading information only.

The user modifies the information in the left window then hit Process
to update the changes in the design file.

11.1.15

Title Block Reporting (Title block info-VB)

The Reporting Module is developed using the Microsoft Visual Basic and can be accessed
using Windows NT operating system.

It writes the contents of the hidden elements into a text file. It makes possible to
generate selected separate text file for each Design File or one text file from more
than one Design File. An error is flagged in the report if there is discrepancy
between the information in the hidden element and in the title block of the
drawing.

Two reports will be generated as text file,

file name.err

(error file)

file name.rpt

(report file)

The error file report will display all types of errors found in the design file.

The report file will display drawing information from the hidden elements.

11.1.15.1

Using Reporting Module

The user can generate the report from a command line execution or
from the Windows NT operating system.

The command line can be accessed from DOS command

For one design file type:
C:\Program files\titleboxverification\titleBoxVerification.exe
c:\reportfilename.txt,c:\design file name

For more than one design file

C:\Program files\titleboxverification\titleBoxVerification.exe
c:\reportfilename.txt,c:\directory name

The Windows command can be accessed by selecting:

Start/Programs/titleBoxVerification
(or)

Or from selecting SACS menu title block info (VB)

A report file dialog box appears. Type and save the report file name.
(Type one file name without any file extension.) By default it will
generate two files; file name.err and file name.rpt

A design file dialog box appears, select the design file(s)

An error dialog window will display errors found. If no error was found
OK will appear for every design file. (This dialog box is just an
information only, the file is saved on your hard disk)

The report file file name.rpt will display all drawing information
including reference files. If there is an error found, no data will be
displayed.

Attachment 'C' (http://edsd.aramco.com.sa/dm/Attach/11.8/CADD_118C.html) provides a
list of the Saudi Aramco CADD Standard lines used for FPP product. Line weight, color,
code, and level are listed. Line orientation can be free at any angle or orthogonal at 0 and
90 degrees. Line type is indicated as either simple, line string, patterned or with text.

11.8.4

FPP Seed File and Form

A hard copy of an FPP drawing is an 'A' size (40"x28", 1016 mm x 711 mm) drawing. The
form (border) and seed file (FPP.A) are displayed in SACS 2.5.1. Within the Saudi Aramco
CADD Standards, the form (Saudi Aramco 2615) is a MicroStation design file that is used
as a reference file (border) in the FPP seed file (FPP.A). The logical name used for this
border with the seed file is 'FPP' (the product code). A level structure scheme has been
used in the border to allow information in this form to be turned on or off. This level
structure

is

displayed

in

Attachment

'A'

(http://edsd.aramco.com.sa/dm/Attach/11.8/CADD_118A.html) and is color coded within

the reference file for easier identification. The text placed outside the border to identify
level structure is on level 53 and can be turned on or off to suit individual's need. The
following table is a list of the information and details displayed on levels 55-62 in the
border file.

should be placed in these fields using either MicroStation command "EDIT AUTO" or
"EDIT SINGLE". Information on format and responsibility of these data fields is given in
the Saudi Aramco Drafting Manual.

11.8.5

FPP Drawing Initialization

The seed file (FPP.A) and attached border (DEFA03.BOR) were created at 1:1 scale
(40"x28", 1016mm x 711mm). When a new drawing is created from the FPP seed file, it
must be initialized. Initializing a drawing will scale the seed file and attached border to a
specified scale and will record scale and monument point coordinate information in the
drawing and in a special maintenance text node on level 63.

FPP Composite Drawings

An FPP composite drawing consists of several separate drawing sheets that can be
referenced and tiled to constitute a single drawing. Each of the individual drawing of a
composite drawing should be vectorized within the provided match line boundaries. The
seed file included pre-drawn match line boundaries specifically for this purpose. These
match lines can be deleted if the drawing is not part of a composite drawing.
