Abstract
This research paper aims to study current situations and problems concerning of 300 baht/day
migrants workers wage policy affecting Burmese migrants workers and also to study the need of Burmese
migrants labors in production sector after increasing minimum wage.
The target groups of this research paper are representatives from food industrial factories located in
Muang district, Samutsakorn Province with 1 representative for each factory and migrants workers
administrative staff, Samutsakorn Province. This research paper uses the in-depth interview technique.
The research can be concluded that most seafood entrepreneurs in Muang district, Samutsakorn Province
are not satisfied with the 300 baht/day minimum wage policy, which causes significant impacts to on the
increasing wage thus, decreasing business profit. This leads to business close-down, lower wage raise for
employees, and less need for new hires. In case, new hires are needed, legalized Burmese labors are
more preferred to the Thais. Therefore the government has an important role in setting up and effective
measure that helps the entrepreneurs make through these difficulties.
