A Teaching Model to Develop Life Skill


for Secondary School Students in Extended Schools

Abstract
This research has the objectives 1) to study the basic life skills of the secondary school students,
2) to construct and obtain the quality of teaching model to develop the life skills for the secondary
school students, 3) to test the teaching model to develop the life skills for the secondary school

students, 4) to evaluate the teaching model for the Educational Opportunity Expansion (EOE) schools. The
samples were collected from the 30 students in Grade 9 of Wat Chantawan-ook School under the
Phitsanuloks Office of Primary Education Area 1. The samples are selected by the purposive sampling.
The statistics employed in the data analysis consist of the statistical means, standard deviation,
percentage, and t-test.
The research findings are shown as follows; 1. the basic life skills of the secondary students in
EOE schools are at the low level while both teachers and students are willing to have the life skill
development at the high level. 2. the life skill teaching model are in the characteristics of the
documentary simulation model. It consisted of the concept and theory description, content structure,
standards/indicators, learning units, learning activities, measurement and evaluation which had the
structural consistency and appropriate quality at the high level. 3. the test of the teaching model
indicated that all the activities in the instructional activities overall are at the highest level. 4. the
evaluation of the teaching model demonstrated that the post-test of the students basic life skills of the
teaching model was higher than the pre-test at the statistically significant 0.05. The students life skills
result of post-test and the result during the follow up period are indifferent.
