About AUW
Vision and Leadership
The Asian University for Women is based on the firm belief that education - especially
higher education - provides a critical pathway to leadership development, economic
progress, and social and political equality. Opened for matriculation in 2008 in Chittagong,
Bangladesh, the university is the realization of a visionary partnership between our founder,
the Government of Bangladesh, and renowned international funders including the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation, The Open Society Institute, The Rockefeller Foundation and
USAID. The institution is further supported by the Ikea Foundation, Japan Foundation and
BRAC amongst others under the leadership of Mrs. Cherie Blair, our Chancellor, and Dr.
Fahima Aziz, our Vice Chancellor.
Student Body and Faculty
AUW currently offers a world-class education to 500 young women from 17 countries
including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, India,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Vietnam.
Our faculty is similarly composed of the finest local and international scholars who
collaborate to provide a rigorous American-style liberal arts education that is grounded in the
concerns and issues of the region it serves.
Curriculum
Undergraduates can choose one or a combination of the following 7 majors and 10 minors:
Majors - Asian Studies, Biology, Economics, Environmental Studies, Politics, Philosophy &
Economics (PPE), Computer Science/Information & Communication Technology, and
Public Health Studies.
Minors Asian Studies, Biological Sciences, Chinese Studies, Computer Science,
Developmental Studies, Economics, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, Mathematics and
Psychology.
In addition to their curriculum, students engage in a range of service projects and
extracurricular activities, carry out research and field projects, present at and attend
international conferences and workshops, and publish in academic and specialized journals
and magazines.

Professional Experience
All this is in support of their preparation to contribute to the global community through
internships, - and graduate job placements. Our students unique experiences and abilities
have led them to be selected for internship or employment by top organizations -such as:
Association of War Affected Women, BBC Media Action, Caritas Internationalis,
Fiat, General Electric, GIZ, Hayleys Ltd, Hong and Shanghai Banking Corporation,
Human Rights Commission in Heart Afghanistan, International Labor
Organization, Standard Chartered Bank, Starbucks USA, TATA Consulting
Engineers Ltd., Toshiba, Transparency International, World Bank, World Wildlife
Foundation, EWHA University Korea, Cardiff University, University of Trento
Italy, Oxford University, and Wageningen University Netherlands.
Through these dynamic, challenging, and eye-opening experiences both in and out of the
classroom, the Asian University for Women seeks to graduate students who will pursue
paths as skilled and innovative individuals and professionals, service-oriented leaders, and
promoters of tolerance and understanding throughout the world.

Conducted analysis and produced subsequent report of REVEAL (an online
business game developed by L'Oreal) to assess the games current status and propose
recommendations to increase the participant numbers.
Produced feasibility analysis of BRANDSTORM (a marketing competition L'Oreal
was seeking to launch in Vietnam) and proposed a launch plan.
Assisted in animating Recruitment Facebook page and increasing the number of
likes.
Supported HR team in ad-hoc projects.
