Students will be able to translate food related vocabulary in Spanish
ISTE NETS
Students will be able to work collaboratively with peers towards a common goal
Students will be able to access websites with links

Introduction:
The teacher will have the lesson objectives on a PowerPoint slide on the projector
screen. The teacher will read the lesson objectives out loud to the students. The
teacher will also have an agenda written on the board:
Introduction
Vocabulary Worksheet on Quizlet
Review of Vocab
Kahoot game
Next, the teacher will ask the students:
Raise your hand if you like to eat
Raise your hand if you would like to eat if you were in Spain or South American
What kinds of foods do you know that are authentic to Spanish speaking countries?

Instruction:
The teacher will ask students to go to her website:
http://student.plattsburgh.edu/bolea001/index.html
Once students are at her website, the teacher will hand out this weeks vocabulary
list. While she is doing this, the teacher will ask students to click on the resources
tab, and then click on the quizlet link: http://quizlet.com/57052879/flashcards
(Check for Understanding).
Once students are at the correct link, they will use the quizlet vocabulary list to fill
out their own vocabulary list. This is to be done independently. (Check for
Understanding).
Once the students have completed this, the teacher will go over the vocabulary list
to make sure everyone has them right. Using fair sticks, she will call on students to
share with the class what they got for the word.
The teacher will then have students get into groups of four (this can be done by
having students group up based on the four people next to them, the teacher will
help organize groups), but remain around just one computer. The teacher will
instruct one student to go to her website, then to the resources tab then to the link:
https://kahoot.it. (Check for Understanding). Once students are at the website,

they will be asked to enter a pin, on the teachers webpage she will have the pin they
need, and will display it on the projector screen. Once students have entered the pin,
and created a team name, they can begin the game. (Check for Understanding).
The teacher will control the master computer and go from question to question. If
there is not enough time to finish the game, whoever has the most points at that
time, wins the game. If there is significantly extra time, and the students are
behaving well and having fun, they may play the game again as extra practice.

Practice:
Students will go to the quizlet link http://quizlet.com/57052879/flashcards, go
though the flashcards, and fill out their vocabulary sheets. The teacher will be
walking around the room making sure students are staying on task, and are using
the correct link.
In groups of four, students will play the Kahoot game against each other to
practice the vocabulary they were just introduced to.

Knowledge of Results:
The teacher will provide verbal feedback to the students while they are reviewing
the vocabulary sheet. She will tell that they were correct, or that they were
incorrect, and can anyone help them out.
The teacher will provide written feedback to the students during their practice by
writing notes on their vocabulary sheets letting students know how they are doing.
She will walk around the room, and write ok or mark ones that they need to look
at again on the students vocabulary sheets.

Review:
The teacher will have students fill out an exit slip at the end of the lesson. The exit
slip will ask students: Without looking at your vocabulary sheet, choose three new
vocabulary words and what they mean in English and Spanish or use the three in a
sentence. This will be collected.

Assessment:
http://quizlet.com/57052879/test
This assessment is an online quiz. Part of the assessment includes students being
able to access the teachers website, find the link to the test, and open the link.
Before they can start taking the paper version of the test, they must show the
teacher that they were able to get to the webpage.

Optional Activity:
This activity is to be done if there is extra time left over in the class period. The
teacher will have students open a word document, first save it as Vocabulary:
Food, then students will work in pairs to create ten sentences using their vocab.
The sentences must be written in Spanish, and must be written so that if someone
did not know the meaning of the word, they would be able to figure it out based on

context clues. For example: Me gusta comer la hamburguesa con patatas fritas.
Puedo comprarla en McDonalds. (I like to eat hamburgers with French fries. I can
buy this at McDonalds.)
