WORKS PROGRESS
High Street, South side
Utility works were completed
outside Blu BBQ.
Granite kerbing, services and the
new
concrete
pavement
foundation
has
now
been
completed to Rutledge.
KN Networks on behalf of BT are
currently carrying out alteration
works at the corner of High Street
and Bingham Street. FP McCann
has been informed by BT that this
element of their advance alteration
works will be completed and
temporarily reinstated in advance
of the Christmas embargo
Parking
bays
have
been
completed and re-opened from
Prospect Road to Rutledge.
Paving has been completed
between Prospect Road and
Alfred Street, with trees and
furniture to be installed later in the
scheme.
Paving commenced at Maguire
th
Pharmacy on the 24 October and
will continue towards Rutledge,
with all barriers removed as the
paving is completed.
It is
anticipated this area of paving will
st
be completed by the 21
November in advance of the
Christmas embargo, with all
barriers removed.
Access will be maintained to all
businesses/residents at all times.

High Street, North side


Paving has now been completed
to the covered shopping arcade
that runs between High Street and
Holborn Avenue car park.
NIE and NIW continue their
alteration works between Holborn
Avenue and Clifton Road in
advance of the Public Realm
works. NIE have confirmed that
reinstatements will be completed

by week ending 07 November,
however we understand that there
is one premises (Sew Unique
Fabrics)
where
their
works
requirements are unresolved.
Upon receipt of further information
from
the
utility
companies
regarding this work FP McCann
will update the directly affected
parties.
Bingham Street
The pavement has been reopened at the rear of the Flagship
Shopping Centre towards High
Street.
Paving in this area is currently
programmed to commence week
th
commencing
24
November,
continuing through the Christmas
Embargo.
Access will be maintained to all
businesses/residents at all times.
Prospect Road
Paving is substantially complete
along the West side of the Road,
with all barriers removed.
Paving to the East side is currently
programmed to commence week
th
commencing
24
November,
continuing through the Christmas
embargo.
Works to extend the new granite
kerb, services and concrete

pavement foundation from Floral


Design to Honey Hair on the
Donaghadee Road is currently
underway.
Access will be maintained to all
businesses/residents at all times.

Quay Street
Granite kerbing, placement of
services and the placement of the
new
concrete
pavement
foundation has been completed in
this area.
Granite paving is due to
commence in this area following
the Christmas embargo.
Abbey Street
Completed sections of paving
have been laid along the Castle
Park side of Abbey Street.
Feature paving in the sections
currently
not
paved
is
programmed for commencement
January 2015.
Paving continues to be laid past
the DRD and Translink car parks
and is programmed for completion

week commencing 10 November.

Translink have confirmed that tree


root removal from their drainage
system which was adding to the
cause of the terminal flooding
during peak rainfall events has
now been completed between the
Translink Terminal and Dufferin
Avenue.

BT has temporarily removed their


phone kiosks in this area to
facilitate the Public Realm works.
FP McCann will commence
excavation works to lay the new
granite kerbs, services and
concrete pavement foundation

week commencing 3 November.
The Taxi rank will be facilitated
throughout and access will be
maintained
to
all
businesses/residents at all times.
At the Belfast end of Abbey Street
next to Dominos Pizza, Phoenix
Natural Gas have confirmed that
they are due to carry out a trial
hole to verify the level of their gas
service pipe/s in the area. Further
information regarding this work will
be issued upon receipt from the
utility company.

Main Street
Works have commenced adjacent
to the Post Office and will continue
in this vicinity up to the 21st
November.
Access to the Post office and all
other trading businesses will be
maintained throughout as will
access to the controlled and
uncontrolled pedestrian crossings
in this area.

commence on the North side

the South side and upon
completion move directly to the
north side.
All works will continue through the
Christmas embargo.
Market Street
Excavation, placement of services,
placement of kerbs and concrete
pavement foundation is due to

commence week commencing 24
November, and continue through
the Christmas embargo.
Central Avenue
Excavation, placement of services,
placement of kerbs and concrete
pavement foundation is due to
commence during the Christmas
embargo.
Those traders affected will be contacted
by the contractor prior to works
commencing.

contractor works around various obstacles


that are encountered on a typical town
centre
environmental
improvement
scheme.
There are many cables still to be laid and
services to be diverted, FP McCann will
continue to use their best endeavours to
maintain the good progress made to date.
FP McCann will continue to liaise with all
the businesses within the scope of the
scheme to try and reduce disruption during
the period of works.
