ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

This assignment is focused on an aspect of power and politics in organisations as discussed in


Topic 9 of your module.
Undertake a study at a school of your choice. Identify any TWO ordinary staff members who
wield considerable influence on other school personnel or even school administrators.
Ordinary staff members are staff members who are not holding positions like heads of
department or higher positions in the management hierarchy of the school. You need to
exercise great sensitivity and discretion in identifying the two staff members concerned.
Evaluate the influence of the two identified persons through their exercise of expert, referent and
relationship power.

Data is to be elicited through interviewing of at least THREE teachers or staff members and
reference to relevant documents and records.
Refer to the guideline and rubric on the expected assignment content and also the basis for
which marks are to be awarded for the final report.
