RCA: ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS. It is used in problem management.RCA is used to


generate the reports for the particular issues & sent to the client, then store it in
sharefolder.
What are the types of servers?
There are 3 types of servers.
1.Normal server: 3 users can connect /login at a time.
2.Terminal Servers: It is licensed server. If you want to get the license, we need
to contact Microsoft people only. Here n no. Of users can login. Terminal
Server is the server component of Terminal services. It handles the job of
authenticating clients.

3.Jump server: It is a restricted server. A Jump Server is used to manage devices


in a separate security zone. This is having client information like client software,
documents, information...etc. Only L3 & L4 people can allow into this server.

USER: Who gives the input to the computer. While default we are going to install
OS and we can create multiple users.(OR) A user is an agent, either a human
agent (end-user) or software agent, who uses a computer or network service. A
user often has a user account and is identified by a username .

Group: who will manage the no.of users/end users. i.e, Client User(XP)/Server
User(win 2003)
Work Group: In a particular system, we can able to do work. In Computer
Networking, A workgroup is a collection of computers on a local area network
(LAN) that share common resources and responsibilities. Workgroups provide
easy sharing of files, printers and other network resources. Workgroups are
designed for small LANs in homes, schools, and small businesses.
When you set up a network, Windows automatically creates a workgroup and
gives it a name. You can join an existing workgroup on a network or create a new
one.

Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel,


clicking System and Maintenance, and then click on System.

Under Computer Name, Domain, and Workgroup Settings,


click Change settings.
If you are prompted for an administrator
password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click the Computer Name tab, and then click Change.

Under Member of, click Workgroup, and then do one of the following:

To join an existing workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that


you want to join, and then click OK.

To create a new workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that


you want to create, and then click OK.

NETWORK It is a inter-connection of devices.


Networking It is the communication between the interconnected devices.

ACTIVE DIRECTORY: Active Directory is a directory service that is used to store


information about various network resources and nodes throughout a
domain. i.e, AD is a directory service which contains information of all user
accounts on a network.
DOMAIN: Domain is a group of computers & devices on a network that are
administered as a unit with common rules & procedures. Within the internet,
domains are identified by IP address. Each domain is identified by DNS domain
name.
TREE: Managing the no.of domains. If more than one domain exists you combine
the multiple domains into hierarchical tree structure.

Forest: Managing no.of trees and domains. A forest is a collection of domain

containers
Here Domain container means an object, Containers are an integral part of the
Active Directory system. Some container objects are created by default when you
promote the first Domain controller .
