SO WHAT' S BEEN HAPPENI NG SO FAR?
Ang Sulo started out as the publ i cati on arm of the Col l ege of Educati on Student
Counci l ( CESC) .
During Academi c Year 2011- 2012, under the leadership of editor-in-chief Sue Quirante,
staff members considered becomi ng an i ndependent organ. A Consti tuti on was
drafted for this purpose. Moreover, this was also the last year hard copies of a 20-page issue
of Ang Sulo were published.
In AY 2012-2013, under editor-in-chief Shaira Ang, because of budget constraints, Ang Sulo
members decided to retreat to an online platform (sulongeduk.wordpress.com). The
Constitution was again revised, but due to membership issues, activities were put on hiatus.
Under editor-in-chief Mia Baygan in AY 2013-2014, members again were scarce, so Ang
Sulos activities were put on hiatus.
Ang Sulo is a member of Sol i dari dad, a system-wide alliance of college publications in the
University of the Philippines. From time to time, Diliman members convene at the Philippine
Collegian office. Ang Sulo members help in logistics and publicity concerns of Solidaridad
activities.

STARTI NG OVER AGAI N?
As of now, there are two official members of Ang Sulo. Nothing has been published, online or
offline, since 2012. We have yet to form an editorial board, and create plans for articles to be
published.
Havi ng sai d thi s, Ang Sul o i s need of members: WRI TERS AND ARTI STS!

4
LETS SET OUR PRIORITIES! WHAT SHOULD WE BE DOING?
CALL FOR WRI TERS AND ARTI STS! (Without them, we would be nothing.)
ORGANI ZE OURSELVES! (Conduct face-to-face meetings with the members, and hold a
PLACEMENT EXAM for an editorial board)
TRAI N AND PRACTI CE! (With the help of past members and through partnerships with
other publications like Tinig ng Plaridel, it would be best to train our young teacher-journalists
for the sake of quality content.)
PUSH FOR PRI NTED PUBLI CATI ON! (Provided we get over our money constraints)
PUSH FOR REGULAR, ONLI NE CONTENT! While we are short of money, itd be best to
do this. Why? Our former EIC, Ms. Sue Quirante, explains:
a) money is a serious constraint
b) you're still looking at developing skills
c) you're still looking at growing a readership
d) you're all busy
e) print is becoming pass
f) it enables you to use multimedia (pictures, pictures, video, pictures!)
OPTIONS: STAY on WordPress, or REVAMP and choose a new platform.
BEFORE YOU COMMIT, GET TO KNOW THE JOB.

may be more frequent due to time constraints.
2. Participate: Decisions for Ang Sulo will be finalized through a voting system.
Everyone has a voice. Also, everyone who is a member should of course be
compelled to produce content.
3. Write to the deadline: Without compliance to deadlines, we have no
publication. Without compliance to deadlines, we wont be able to organize
ourselves.
4. Communicate: If you have suggestions, by all means, bring them up. If you
have problems, dont hesitate to tell us.
5. SMILE: Were a family! A family of hardworking, dedicated, teacher-journalists.
