IIM Shillong PGP (2015-17) Admissions Process

The selection of candidates for admission to PGP (2015-17) batch will be undertaken
in two phases after CAT 2014. The first phase would include declaration of shortlisted
candidates for Personal Interview (PI) and the second phase will involve the
preparation of a final merit list, on which, the candidates will be offered admission to
the PGP (2015-17) batch. The process in each of these phases will be as follows:
Phase 1: Shortlisting for Personal Interview
A. The minimum requirements to be considered for shortlisting of candidates would
be as follows:
Table 1: Minimum Performance Requirements for Consideration of Shortlisting for Personal Interview

ST 50 50 45 50 50
SC 55 55 50 60 60
OTHERS
(OT)

Based on the performance specifications as given in Table 1, we shall obtain a
number of candidates who would be considered for short-listing.
B. All candidates opted (as per the CAT application) for IIM Shillong PGP 2015-17
batch will first be segregated according to their graduation discipline as reported in
CAT 2014 data.
For example,
: Number of candidates opted for IIM Shillong PGP 2015-17 batch.
: Number of disciplines as it appears in CAT 2014 results.
Then,

is the number of candidates appearing in every

discipline.
= 1, 2, 3, . . . ,
Now, let us say,

is the Percentage of candidates opted for IIM Shillong in

discipline out
of total number of candidates as shown in Table 2.
Then,

E. Number of candidates shortlisted for Interviews.
i. Based on the candidates data in CAT 2014, the Institute will decide to shortlist
a total of X candidates for Personal Interviews. X would be decided based on
the overall performance of the candidates in CAT 2014, the number of seats
available, buffer for possible overlap and attendance trends in the past, etc.

= Number of candidates to be called for personal interview (PI)
Subsequently, the number of candidates shortlisted for interview in respective
categories would be

, = , , , .
Where,

= 7.5% of X rounded to higher nearest integer,

= 15.0% of X rounded to higher nearest integer, and

final merit list for admission offer. Let us say total number of candidates will appear
in the PI process. An overall score,

for every candidate , who appears PI will be

calculated for each candidate using the following formula, which will be used for
preparing the merit list for the final selection.

2
: Weight of performance of the candidates in Overall CAT Absolute Score
(30%)

However, there will be different cutoff scores for candidates performance obtained in
PI (

) in various categories as shown in Table 5 to prepare a list of candidates

eligible for preparation of merit list for admission offer.
