Falsis, Charlyn Belle Vocation of a Business Leader Reflection K38

A. According to Aristotle, everyone wants common good. We are relational beings therefore we
achieve our goal through collaboration with other people that have the same goal. Having more
manpower that wants to achieve the same goal will guarantee a faster achievement. If everyone is
helping each other to pursue a goal, it will most likely be a success. The mixture of ideas will
result to an excellent output. In short, two is better than one.

B. The business leader is not a speculator, but essentially an innovator. The speculator makes it his
goal to maximize profit; for him, business is merely a means to an end, and that end is profit. For
the speculator, building roads and establishing hospitals or schools is not the goal, but merely a
means to the goal of maximum profit. It should be immediately clear that the speculator is not the
model of business leader which the Church holds up as an agent and builder of the common
good. The quote briefly explains how leaders can pursue the common good. It also compared
and contrasted the speculator and the business leader. In my opinion, business leaders are the
ones who want to purse common good. They want to help the world to be a better place by doing
social work, helping the environment and others while the speculator only perceives business as a
means to an end which is to maximize profit whatever it takes.

C. The stakeholders of the business leaders are the internal and the external. Business leaders must
influence his subordinates in order to pursue the common good. They must also influence
external stakeholders such as suppliers, competitors, consumers and other more. One could have a
healthy competition in order to pursue the common good. Instead of competing with our
competitors, the companies should collaborate with each other in order to pursue the common
good. The duties of the business leaders are to share the same dream with their subordinates. The
role of the leader also maintains and encourages the current situation of the company. The leaders
also serve as a role model for the subordinates.

D. Social entrepreneurship can satisfy all stakeholders. It allows to sustain profits and at the same
time help the stakeholders. It helps the environment and employees. It encourages profit sharing
in order to be fair to the workers of the company. It is better to give back a portion of your profit
rather than keeping it all. Social entrepreneurs create a business model that will benefit the poor
and the environment. They also create a long term business model that will certainly help their
stakeholders. In addition, there are many non profit organizations that supports social
entrepreneurship
