Super Volunteer Recognition

The governing board recognized Eugenia Chen,
Michael and Renee Griffith, as super volunteers. Board
President Carole Siegler reviewed the volunteer efforts
of Ms. Chen at Esperero Canyon Middle School
(ECMS). Ms. Chen was one of the founders of the
ECMS STEM (science, technology, engineering and
mathematics) night.

President Siegler also recognized Mr. & Mrs. Griffith for
their creation of an interactive student club benefiting
children in the areas of science, technology,
engineering, art and math (STEAM) at Canyon View
Elementary.

On behalf of the governing board, Ms. Siegler
presented all three super volunteers with a certificate of
appreciation and a key chain that stated, Making a
World of Difference.

2014-2015 Comparative Enrollment Report
Assistant Superintendent Denise Bartlett presented the
2014-2015 Enrollment Report. Dr. Bartlett reported that
on October 2, 2014, CFSDs enrollment was 4,943, a
decrease of 39 students over the October 3, 2013,
enrollment numbers. Grade level enrollments are
K-5 = 2,076; 6-8 = 1,228; and 9-12 = 1,639. The non-
resident enrollment is 1,892. The CARE before and
after school program has an increase of 1% over the
prior year. Valley View Early Learning Center is at
capacity with an enrollment of 152.

These enrollments are based on the 40-day average
daily membership (ADM). The 100-day ADM will be the
official count that determines state funding.

Assessment / A-F Letter Grades
Associate Superintendent Mary Jo Conery presented
the CFSD 2014 Assessment Report. This report
provides data on student performance and
achievement in our schools. The Arizona Department
of Education (ADE) uses the data for both federal and
state accountability purposes. Also presented was
information about A-F letter grades. The grade system
was created to provide information about the overall
academic performance of schools and the district. The
report included AIMS test results, and the formula for
the grading of schools A-F. Six of seven CFSD schools
received the letter grade A. The district was graded A.
