COVER LETTER

India is a developing economy. With the recent growth in Indias economy, India is also seeing huge
amounts of foreign investment in the chemical, manufacturing and real estate sectors. Increased foreign
investment has affected the environmental agenda in India.
My country needs more skilled Environmental professionals who possess the necessary skills and
expertise in assessing environmental and social impacts of the rapid Industrial growth that we are
currently facing. But we do not have many first rate programs in this category. The clash between
economic and environmental concerns that we are witnessing in India fascinates me and attracted me to
pursue Higher education in this field. I am convinced that studying in a graduate degree program in an
advanced country, such as Canada, will be the best way for me to find the most effective way to treat
environmental issues, in India, and in the world.
After a thorough research with regards to the program I wanted to apply, I decided to apply for the
Environmental Management and Assessment program at Niagara College. After going through the
curriculum of the program I became absolutely sure that this program contains exactly the kind of
coursework which is required to gain valuable knowledge and expertise in the field of Environmental
Management.
I have completed my Bachelors in Mechanical (Specialization in Chemical Process Engineering) from
VIT University in India. During my studies I developed Interest in pursuing higher studies in
Environmental Engineering. I have completed additional elective courses in Energy, Environment and
Climate changes, Renewable Energy & Safety and Hazard Analysis to gain knowledge in this field.
During all these years of study, I have become keenly aware of the urgency of environmental issues,
especially for a country like India. Among all the issues, the need to balance industrial growth with
preservation of our environment problem might be the worst. Partly because of the lack of adequate
public attention and appropriate government legislation and policy in the past decades, Environmental
problems in India becomes far behind developed countries. I want to develop the necessary skills required
to succeed in the growing field of Environmental management. It has numerous career options and is a
very necessary field when it comes to a developing economy like India which faces the challenge of
balancing Technological and Industrial development with the impact it might have on the Environment. I
believe the education I have received at VIT University and my career ambitions, will give me the
grounding to excel in your program. I am, at this moment, very anxious to enter this new phase of my
life's journey.
