SECTION - 3 WIRES, CABLES AND CORDS

3.1 WIRES & CORDS.


The wires & cords for conduit wiring shall be single core, made of stranded copper
conductors, PVC insulated, tested to B.S. 600, !"#$. The %oltage grade shall be &00'$00
%olts or $0'#$0 V unless otherwise specified on drawings and Bill of (uantities. The cables
shall be of )'s. Pa*istan Cables +imited, )'s. ,ewage Cables +imited, )'s. P-.,//0
Cable, )'s. 12/ Cables.

3.2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
&.:.! The contractor shall furnish all material and labour to pull in and install wires and
cables as re8uired. The contractor shall also suppl3, without e<tra cost, wire
accessories e.g. plugs, solder, clamps, supports, bushes, fi<ing pins, adhesi%e tapes,
connectors, identification tags, straps, filling compound and earthing clips etc. as
are re8uired to be furnished for complete wiring installation in accordance with
standard practice. The pulling of wires shall be ta*en in hand onl3 when all conduit
s3stem is complete.
&.:.: The wiring of the installation shall be strictl3 in accordance with the scheme, cable
si4es and circuit details as shown on drawings and specified in &.!
&.:.& 1ll wiring shall be continuous between terminations and use of connectors or =oints
is to be allowed. Super and Tee connections are strictl3 prohibited. +ooping in
s3stem shall be followed throughout.

the time of pulling shall not be sub=ected to a bending radius more than !0 times the
o%er all diameter of cables. Cable manufacturer@s recommendation of pulling speed
and pulling tension on cables shall go%ern the pulling operation.
&.:.6 ,ot more than : circuit wires shall be bunched in the same conduit. ?ires of two
different phases, howe%er, shall not be run or terminated in the same outlet bo< for
single phase wiring of lights, switches and soc*ets.
&.:.# Porcelain or molded plastic connectors shall be pro%ided for a =oint between light
point wiring and light fi<ture wiring and housed in the outlet bo< pro%ided for this
purpose. The contactor after terminations are made shall be wrapped in PVC
insulation tape.
&.:.A The 8uantit3 and the si4e of the wire contained in an3 one conduit shall not be in
e<cess of the numbers permitted b3 -././. regulations.
