Peter Sterken conducted a wind load analysis of a Quercus robur (English oak) tree with a height of 21 meters and crown diameter of 12 meters. The analysis found that the wind load on the tree was 42.52 kN at a wind speed of 14.26 m/s. The critical wind speed where bending fracture of the sound stem would occur was calculated to be 49.55 m/s. Safety against this fracture was determined to be 140.48%.
