Hlderlin, the Reality of Language and Restoration
of the Meaning of Poetry
Summary
In perspectives of Heideggers and Benjamins interpretation of Hlderlins
poetry, this paper, referring to the consequences of European nihilism, tends to restore an understanding of the relation between the historicity of human existence,
the reality of language and the essence of poetry. This understanding leads to the
unity of theoretical and practical knowledge which is, in its temporality, placed in
relation to the responsibility and healing that establishes persistence of humanity
in time. Thus, in the epoch which dominated by the power of technology, the interpretation of Hlderlins poetry is treated as a return to the poetical thinking that
should not remain just a literary event but, in correspondence to the renewal of the
experience of the value and meaning of literature in history, should be grasped in
the context of deconstruction of Western metaphysics and a reversal which is crucial
for Western culture.
