Projects WSN for Smart Buildings Project (IIITD-UCLA)
Advisor: Dr.Amarjeet Singh Duration: Aug 2012- May 2013
Design and Deployment of Wi-Fi based WSN nodes having 16-Bit PIC MCU
along with on board 802.11 b/g Module and Digital sensors for sensing physical
parameters like Ambient Light, Temperature and Motion, Occupant location
using 802.15.4 based mobile Tags. It includes design of wired sensor n/w over
Ethernet. In the latter case sensors were roof mounted on a conduit mount
sensor mote and connected over cable to MCU base board. The environmen-
tal data was sampled from dierent sensors and stored in to packets. Finally
sensor data is sent to a central server running SensorAct (A Privacy and Secu-
rity Aware Middleware developed jointly by IIITD-UCLA). Status: Successful
Design and Deployment of 14 Wi-Fi Nodes covering whole MUC Wing along
with design and validation of 1st prototype for hostel dorms and 25 more nodes
going to be deployed by July 2013. .
WSN for Energy Eciency in Buildings (Indrion Tech.)Aug 2011-June 2012
Designed tiny sensor motes for sensing Ambient Temperature, Light & Humidity
Status: Successfully deployed in 2-3 Tier-I companies in around 500 cubicles.
Designed prototype for Smart Energy Meter based around ADE7763 (AD) En-
ergy Metering IC having on board PT and CT for voltage and current sensing
and isolators.
WiNet (Wireless Sensor Networking) Board (HPES, Noida) May 2011
Designed a platform for Advanced ES Course having 8-Bit RISC MCU with
built-in support for Wireless Data Transmission, Ethernet, Serial communica-
tion via USB, Digital Temperature and Light Sensor, LCD, GPIOs. Wrote
drivers for I2C based sensors, ported TCP/IPv4 Stack.
Web Based Wireless Grid Control (WBWGC)
Advisor: Dr.Jitender Khurana Aug 2010-March 2011
Designed a system for Automated Power Switching and Control for multi-
ple applications where user wishes to control devices remotely over internet.
Microchips ENC28J60 Ethernet controller with Atmel AVR ATmega-16 cus-
tomized as a Embedded Web-Server using Open source TCP/IP stack for task
of power switching and control. This module further controls other modules for
power line switching having Zigbee for inter-module wireless communication.
