Brutality in Modern Times: ISIS adopts aggressive

decapitating strategies to counter American assault.

ISIS has been making the news quite recently and it would be fair to say that
it is as fearsome as Talibans of the early 2000 era. They target civili ans in a
similar manner and now they are also targeting journalists like Taliban and Al -
Qaeda once did. The extremists have once again shown us how brutality rules over
soldiers head, and showed us a picture of how captives of medieval era were
beheaded.
The group ISIS has murdered 9 journalists and military service men on
international assignment, by beheading them. A short footage was later posted on
social media, of both the incidents, which serves as a warning for the American
military to stop the drone attacks. If they do not comply, other journalists will face
the same fate, according to ISISs narrative.
ISIS has declared it as an Islamic state that spreads from Northern Syria to
Iraq, and has formed an army of over 40, 000 trained militants, mostly coming
from Saddam Husains former Iraqi army. The acclaimed Caliph Abu Bakar Al-
Baghdadi, was able to bring together the fallen soldiers into his militant wing
which has given him an added advantage in form of military professionalism
mixed with outrageous brutality of Al-Baghdadi.
The Video of beheading of James Foley, an American journalist, starts with
President Obama addressing the press and telling the world why was it important
to intervene against the militants. The second phase of the video shows the victim
on his knees in an orange prisoner suit, similar to those seen at Guantanamo bay.
Right next to the victim stands the executioner clad in black and has his face
covered and surprisingly has a British accent.
The victim is allowed to speak in front of camera, in which he accuses the
American government for his death, and deaths of several others. I call on my
friends, family, and loved ones to rise up against my real killers, the U.S. government, said
Foley. Once Foley has made his statement, the executioner makes a speech and claims that,
attack on the Islamic state is an aggression against Muslims everywhere, who he believes
that he represents. Once the ninja like Knight of the Caliph is done talking, he takes his
knife closer to Foleys neck and the screen goes black for two seconds and the next visual
shows the victims head rests with the body. After this footage, Obama is challenged to save
the next victim, Steven Sotloff, by stopping the drone attacks. Unfortunately Sotloff was also
beheaded and so were David Haines, Alan Henning and Herve Gourdel. The remaining were
soldiers from Lebanon and Syria.
The purpose of the video seems to be unfulfilled as the US military persistently
sends drones to Iraq and Northern Syria to destroy militant hideouts. The decade old
decapitation strategy however still manages to strike fear into hearts of civilians and
foreigner service men of the region.
