Use of NOCO spray device
1. PURPOSE
SA Ambulance Service is required to provide our patients and crews with the safest
and cleanest environment to be treated and work in therefore there is a need to
sanitise SA Ambulance Service vehicles on a regular basis and immediately after
carriage of an infected person.

2. SCOPE
This procedure addresses the NOCO spray cleans that we use to sanitise
Ambulance vehicles post carriage of patients with VRE or MRSA infections. The
NOCO spray cleaning system emits Sodium Peroxide at safe levels for both patients
and staff and can be used on a regular basis by all staff, if the appropriate procedure
is followed.

4. PROCEDURE
Stage Directions Picture
1. The NOCO spray doesnt eliminate
the need to manually clean dirty
surfaces.
Staff will use DX4 detergent and
water to clean surfaces that have
regular contact with a patient or
patients fluids. Ensure appropriate
PPE equipment is used in the
cleaning process.

2. Prior to opening or using NOCO
spray fluid, don personal protection
plastic sleeves, goggles and
gloves. Ensure sleeves are over
gloves to avoid fluid coming in
contact with skin.
Quantities of plastic sleeves will be
located with each NOCO spray
units.

3. Take the NOCO spray from its
storage compartment
Unscrew the lid of the cleaning
solution
Attach the cleaning solution bottle
and diffuser device by screwing
them together. Finger tight DO
NOT OVER TIGHTEN

4. Place the diffuser with bottle
attached into the NOCO spray unit.
Place the NOCO spray unit on floor
near the grab and go locker and
side sliding door.

5. Dial up the NOCO spray unit:
o Mercedes Sprinters 30
o Bariatric and MedSTAR fleet
40
DO NOT ALTER THIS RATE.

6. Place the black and white rubber
strip onto the passengers side
window.
Pass the extension cord through the
passengers side window and wind
up window creating a seal.
Or pass through side door
careful not to close the door tight
and damaging the extension cord.


7. Turn the unit on ensure the green
light is glowing.



8. With the vehicle running, turn on
internal air-conditioners (front and
rear) to recycle mode.

9. Activate unit by pressing side
switch.

10. Close all doors of vehicle.
CAREFUL WHEN CLOSING DOOR
ON EXTENSION CORD IF
PLACING IT THROUGH THE SIDE
DOOR.

11. After five (5) minutes the cleaning
cycle should be complete
Open all doors on vehicle to
air/ventilate vehicle for 20 minutes
Ensure vehicle and air conditioning
units are still operating.

12. After 20 minutes, remove diffuser
unit and unscrew applicator.
Ensure you are wearing correct
PPE as described in stage 2.
Ensure vehicle is well ventilated.

13. Replace lid on NOCO spray fluid
finger tight only.
Replace NOCO spray unit and fluid
in appropriate storage area.

NOCO spray fluid is available through the Health Distribution Centre via a stores
order.
