ABOUT THE EVENT
AEMFI organizes bi-annual conferences with a particular emphasis on the development of the microfnance sector,
and the related challenges, threats and opportunities in providing inclusive fnance. Accordingly, AEMFI organizes
the 8th biennial conference to be held on the days of October 22- 25, 2014, in collaboration with OMO Microfnance
Share co. and SIDAMA Microfnance Share co. who will be hosting the event, in Hawassa. The main theme of the
8th bi-annual conference Inclusive fnance for expanding opportunities is a real and forward looking theme. In the
conference, different papers addressing various issues of fnancial inclusion in the fnance industry in general and the
microfnance sector in particular will be presented and discussed. Moreover, member MFIs will present their perfor-
mances, challenges and the way forward. Overall, the event is aimed at sharing experiences and providing inputs to
improve the performance of the industry in general and the member institutions in particular.
STRUCTURE
The conference is expected to bring together at least 150 participants including microfnance practitioners, develop-
ment partners, researchers, academia, policy makers, bilateral/ multilateral development/donor agencies, UN agen-
cies, regional development/ fnancial agencies, technical assistance providers. Participants will have the chance to
attend presentations on various topics related to fnancial inclusion. Sessions will include presentations on a specifc
topic followed by Q&A.

LOCATION
LOGISTICS
Transportation is arranged from Addis Ababa to Hawassa and back. Buses will leave Addis in the morning of October
23, 2014. The point of departure will be AEMFI building, located near Damu hotel at Bole Road
(https://www.google.com.et/maps/ms?authuser=0&dg=feature&ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=20528
1032398333138536.0005050fdbdea7f2ff521 ). During the conference, similar bus transport will be available from
your hotel to the conference center at Lewi Resort and back (both morning and evening). The bus leaves early morning
at 8:30 from Central Hotel and Lewi Hotel.
If you do not use these services, you will be responsible for the costs of the alternative arrangements that you make.
